FOOD: 2D1N Soju Bang

Since coming back from Korea, I have been CRAVING for a good Korean BBQ buffet! But I didn't want to go to the very commercialized Soul Garden. Please don't mistake this as 'dislike'. I LOVE Seoul Garden but I just wanted something that was more 'authentic'. So M suggested 2D1N Soju Bang, where he went in June for their à la carte food.

The restaurant is located in Tanjong Pagar, though it is quite a distance away from the train station. It consists of 2 levels of a shophouse; the lower level for their à la carte food and the top level for their BBQ buffet.

We were one of the first few to arrive (A little past 5.30pm.) and so, we got a table immediately. By 6pm, the place was pretty much filled to the brim. The first photo is a shot of the place at around 7.30pm. The BBQ buffet seemed to be a lot more popular than the à la carte food, which hmmm... I couldn't really quite understand. Read on. :\

For the mains, there were probably about 5 different types of beef, 2 variations of pork and 1 tub of chicken. Then, there was the usual Korean side dishes like kimchi, seaweed soup etc. M and I both thought that the food was just alright. Decent but nothing special.

Food was cooked on this portable grill plate, which functioned on cans of gas. A sheet of aluminium foil was placed on top of it and gawd! It was the MOST inconvenient thing because on the second level, there was no air-conditioning. Just massive fans situated non-strategically. One was located right behind M and it just kept blowing at our aluminium foil. Food was a battle.

Breathing was also a battle. Despite the massiveness of the fans, the place was poorly-ventilated and incredibly stuffy. Both of us just wanted to fill our stomachs and leave! It was definitely not a nice place for a lovely dinner with friends (Or soulmates.).

(Was I glad that I wore minimum makeup. But even then, I was so tempted to just clean off all my makeup halfway into the meal. I was feeling THAT uncomfortable.)

Here's a snapshot of the place (And my beloved M. Hehe.).

However, I do need to mention that though the staff didn't smile at all, they were attentive, replacing burnt aluminium foils with new ones without you needing to signal to them. They were on standby.

Our bill amounted to $47.06, which was okay for a buffet but so not okay for such an ambience. Despite the restaurant's popularity, it just isn't for me. I like to sit back and appreciate my food. I may give their à la carte food a shot but for BBQ, I think I will stick to Seoul Garden from now on (I'm sorry I strayed!!! MANY, MANY HUGS TO YOU! Especially to the Downtown East outlet!).

GIVEAWAY: Essie's A Crewed Interest

In my September Vanity Trove, I received a bottle of Essie's A Crewed Interest. But I bought a bottle of it back in June! Haha. So... I'll be giving you the new bottle! Yay! :DDD

But before I go into the rules of this giveaway, here's a little information about the shade. (:

A Crewed Interest is described as a 'luminous peach shade' by Essie. To me, it's more creamy than luminous. It is a very pretty pinkish peach (One of my favourites, actually! Especially now that I'm into pastels!) that spells Spring perfectly!

However, the shade does go on a tad sheer and streaky. You will need, at the very least, 3 coats for a perfect 'manicure'.

Alrighty! Now, for the rules! :D

Here's what you need to do:
1. Leave a comment with your name and email address on either Love, Charlene Judith or Sunbathing Muffins.
2. Have an address in Singapore.
3. Leave only one comment.

The giveaway will end on September 24th, 10.30pm. Good luck! :D

P.S.: Just some 'Do you know?' nugget... A Crewed Interest was used on the models who walked Zac Posen's Spring 2013 for the New York Fashion Week!

REVIEW: Love More's Snail Mucin Healing & Hydrating Mask

As crazy as this is about to sound, I swear that snails are the latest rage in Korea. I literally saw snails in every single beauty shop. Well, not snails per se. But their mucin. Snail mucin is another name for snail slime or snail mucus. Which explains why I returned from the land of the beautiful with not a single snail in sight.

BUT whatever Korea says goes right? Haha. So when Sarina from Secretive emailed me about Love More's Snail Mucin Healing & Hydrating Mask, it was without hesitation and fear that I nodded yes!

Facts:
1. I trust Koreans and their beauty products (Their smooth, flawless, glowing complexions on telly are REAL! It isn't only the superstars who are blessed with god-kissed skins.).
2. I'm really intrigued by this whole snail technology.
3. It is usually the unassuming people/ insects/ things who/ that surprise you.

Snail Mucin Healing & Hydrating Mask is enriched with snail mucin for intense hydrating of the skin and for the healing of epidermis tissue for a renewed and youth complexion.

The mask is also formulated with Synhycan, which gives a better moisturizing effect than the famed Hyaluronic Acid. Copper Peptide, GHK-Cu, has also been added to delay the signs of anti-ageing, prevent the formation of lines and firm up the skin.

Also, the mask has low acidity, is non-comedogenic and free from colourants and alcohols.

The mask is a 'Japan Soft Mask' that is only 0.02mm thick. It is feathery soft and has a 'skin-friendly ergonomic cut' so that it fits and sits nicely on the face.

I liked that the mask came with a plastic sheet in-between as it made unfolding it a lot easier. It was also cut neatly round the ages and indeed, it fitted and sat nicely and comfortably on my face. Throughout the entire duration that I had it on, I did not have loose flaps hanging about.

The mask was adequately drench in the essence and the moment it went on to my face, I felt a cooling sensation (Didn't refrigerate it beforehand.). It was a really relaxing 20 minutes. (: After peeling it off, my skin felt moist and well-hydrated. I noticed that it also helped calm the redness in my face.

Love More's Snail Mucin Healing & Hydrating Mask makes a good weekly mask, especially when you need some intense hydration after a long day and your skin is crying out for a little perk-me-up session. However, I have not exactly seen how the snail mucin is 'better' than other ingredients. I have used only a box of it though and perhaps, more mask-ing sessions are needed in order to witness the powers of the snail.

Love More's Snail Mucin Healing & Hydrating Mask retails here at Secretive at $8.90 for a box of 5. Do like Love More's Facebook page here for more updates! (:
