SWATCHES: Maybelline Stylish Smokes Eyeshadow Quads (Natural Smokes 02 and Emerald Smokes 08)

Maybelline Stylish Smokes Eyeshadow Quad in Natural Smokes

Maybelline Stylish Smokes Eyeshadow Quad in Emerald Smokes

I tried the Natural Smokes quad yesterday. The eyeshadows are alright in the pigmentation department. They blend very easily, so thumbs up! The look (following the instructions) was a little too dark for me though. I like the eyeshadow at the inner corners of my eyes to be of a light shade. (:

What I like most about the quads is that they come with instructions and have words like 'Lid', 'Crease', 'Outer Corner' and 'Brow Bone' etched in the eyeshadows! (: The quads are smaller than the palm, with colours that match perfectly, so it's real dandy for ladies who are always on the go. (:

EVENT: L’Oreal HiP Bloggers’ Party

(the above photos are from L'Oreal Paris Singapore's Facebook fanpage.)

“Backstage beauty secrets made easy.”

Last Saturday, I got the chance to attend L’Oreal HiP Bloggers’ Party because of Kim (Thank you, Kim! (: ) It was held at the very whimsical and pretty Hairloom & Caramel (Read about my previous date there here.)! (:

(top row, from left: Riotous, Flare, Platinum and Showy
bottom row, from left: Adventurous, Flashy, Bustling and Flamboyant)

L’Oreal HiP (High Intensity Pigments) is a collection inspired by makeup artist James Kaliardos and his muse, Linda Evangelista. They wanted to bring the stage’s rich and vibrant colours to the masses and hence, HiP was born!

L’Oreal heard our cry for the collection and so yes, Singapore is the first Asian country to have it! YAY!!! (: 8 shades of the HiP Bright Shadow Duo ($18.90 each) and 4 shades of the HiP Color Chrome Eyeliner ($17.90 each) will be brought in. These will be available in selected Watsons store in October, just in time for Christmas! (:

The shade which I am most excited about is Flashy because it looks like a dupe for NARS’ Misfit (I want this so very badly but it is so very expensive! ): )!

The collection reminds me A LOT of Urban Decay because of all the in-your-face kind of colours! Flamboyant reminds me of Urban Decay’s Honey and Flash. The lighter blue in Showy looks similar to Urban Decay’s Painkiller.

(from top: Black Shock, Silver Lightning, Gold Change and Violet Volt)

The eyeliners are incredibly soft and creamy. Again, Gold Charge reminds me of Urban Decay’s El Dorado Eye Pencil and Violet Volt, Urban Decay’s Ransom.

Mich recently did a very interesting entry, pitting L'Oreal HiP's eyeliners with Urban Decay's! Read it here!

Makeup artist Julyen was there to do a makeup demonstration. He taught us the ‘wash’ and ‘pack’ methods for applying shadows. ‘Washing’ is for applying the eyeshadow over the entire lid and for softening harsh lines. He reminded us to hold the brush at the handle so that the eyeshadow will be brushed onto our lids in a very natural way, following the way the brush moves.

'Packing’ is a technique I learnt when I was working in Sephora. After picking up some eyeshadow, shake your brush to get rid of excess and dab it on your eyelids. Don't do any swiping motion! This important technique ensures that your eyeshadow doesn't lose it's intensity. Another way to ensure that, is to wet your brush first with mineral water (Julyen suggested Avène's Thermal Water.).

The rule of the thumb, he said, is for the lighter shade of eyeshadow to be applied at the inner corners of your eye and the darker one on the outer corners. But this time round, he did it the other way round; Darker on the inner corners and lighter on the outer.

On the other eye of the model (She has such fabulous skin!), he did a smokey eye, using purple in the crease to soften the outline of the black eyeshadow. With a little silver eyeshadow, he highlighted the middle of the eyelid to give it some dimension.

One very useful tip he mentioned was that one of the causes of creasing is that we pack on too much eyeshadow, so pack less!

Thereafter, we had a makeup competition on paper dolls, cupcake-designing competition and lunch. I got to try the Smoked Duck Sandwich with Dijon Mustard that I wanted the other time (It wasn’t available then!)! (:

Each of us was given a makeup pouch which contained 4 eyeshadows, 2 eyeliners and the Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer. I can't wait to try out the eyeshadows, especially Flashy! (And I'm pretty sure that I'm getting Riotous come October! Green's my favourite colour! (: )

Thank you L’Oreal Paris Cosmetics and Kim for such an awesome Saturday! Also, it was really fabulous meeting the other Onsugarettes again! (: (: (:

MAIL: EuniqYou.com (And some updates!)

Hey Muffins!

Dad came home with a mail for me today! I was so excited to get this because I wanted to buy it but it wasn't for sale. It was meant for a giveaway on EuniqYou's Facebook fan page.

She had the one in gold for sale but I'm not a really 'gold' person so I didn't get it.

I didn't win the giveaway but when the winner didn't reply Eun, she asked me if I wanted it instead. I was so completely thrilled! (:

Unfortunately, while she was away, there was a mixed-up and the copper/ bronze one got sold away instead. )': But it was incredibly nice of her to still send me the gold one!

I love it so much because I took French I and II in school last year and the pendent says 'Oui'... Lol. Okay, that didn't make sense. But anyways...

Eun makes many lovely and intricate jewellery and you can view them all at her website! (:

I'm really sorry for the lack of entries and doodles! ): School's getting really hectic; I have 3 tests coming up and have just done 2! All in the FIRST 3 weeks of school. Ugh. I do have posts (A SUMMER post... Way overdue, a what's-in-my-bag post, my makeup collection post and of course, REVIEWS!) planned in my head but free time's not exactly my best friend right now. I'll try to come up with at least one post a week!

Another thing, I can't log into my Onsugar account 7/8 of the time and it's really annoying because I want to comment so badly. ): So I'll opt for the Name/ Email/ Website/ Message option instead. Just to let you know. (:

Till then,
please take care Muffins and SMILE! (:

EVENT: Kotex's WOW Party

(This post will be strictly for the ladies!)

On August 21st, I was invited to Kotex's WOW Party by The Sample Store. I was wondering why on earth Kotex would hold a party because I mean... Kotex means pads and pads are, well, pads. But boy, was I in for a sweet surprise! (:

The party was held at Heaven's loft, located on the 8th level of Orchard Central.

The food was oh-so-delectable! We even got the chance to make our own cupcakes!!!

Here's my first cupcake! Haha. I saved it for my sister but I accidentally dropped the whole thing on the floor before she could get a bite. :\ (And yes, the silver balls can be eaten!)

After the food and fun, Kotex finally revealed what 'WOW' was all about!

"Fashion has finally been matched with function..."

KOTEX LUXE Ultrathin pads now come with designs to reflect the type of girl you are!

For those who don't know, the KOTEX Ultrathin pads has the Micro (less-than sign) Max Technology. Though ultrathin, it's very absorbent. Best of all, it has a soft cottony cover!!!

The KOTEX LUXE Ultrathin Fusion Day and Night pads will, however, be available in one design only *points above*. ):

Pads are kept in a sleek, black drawstring bag which can be reused. (:

Here are some pictures of the actual pads: 1 2 3

These pretty pads will be launched on September 13th, so keep a look out for them at your supermarket! (:

On a sidenote, yay to a long weekend ahead! I'll be busy catching up on my work (I'm still very much in the holiday mood, no thanks to a 4-month long break.). :\ But what have you ladies got planned?

'VOTD' stands for Virtual Outfit of the Day. I have been watching 'The City' a lot. Magazines have to pull looks together for all sorts of occasion and I thought it looks fun so I decided to have a 'VOTD' section on my blog.

I didn't do much for my first VOTD because I like what was paired up by ASOS.com already. I love the bracelet TONS. Haha. Am contemplating whether I should order it but man, is it pricey! :\

Anyway, let me know what you Muffins think! Will you wear this outfit? What accessories would you have otherwise picked? Something more kick-ass? Or something sweeter?

HAULS: Kitson 2010 Autumn & Winter Collection and InRed

Afternoon Muffins (:

Today, I made a trip down to NAC's Kinokuniya and look at what I got!

I really love the Marc Jacobs' pouches! The daisies are incredibly cute! (: The material's kinda yucky though. It's PVC, I think?

Alright. I've got to jet. A pile of homework is waiting for me. :\

Anyway, does anyone watch MTV's 'The City'? Erin Kaplan, ELLE's Director of Public Relations, is my latest muse! (:

And oh! I heard 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 2 starts tomorrow. Is that right?

Remember Michelle whose nails I featured a while back? Here are more nail art from her! (:

Pretty much? I love the 1st and 3rd designs a lot! Which is your favourite?

By the way, this very sweet friend of mine has started her own nail art blog, so go bookmark it! (:

REVIEW: Neutrogena’s Body Clear Body Scrub

I get the occasional blemish on my back once in a while but somehow, during June/ July, I had quite a few (Probably due to long hours of work and late nights. :\ Sleep early!) and that scared me quite a bit. So I am really glad that I got this in my first drugstore.com haul (I think I actually got it for my brother. Hmmm… Well, he’s using it now. Heh.).

The thing that I look out for in acne treatments is salicylic acid and this has it. So did it clear up my back acne? Yes, it did!!! (: (: (:

The beads in the scrub are rather coarse so do be careful, especially when you’re going over the blemishes (Don’t scratch them!). It smells a bit like Clean & Clear Morning Burst range… Like oranges! Very refreshing!

But unfortunately, it also dried out my back! ): ): ): I am guessing that it is because I used it every day. Even though this is meant for the body and the skin on the body is a lot tougher than that on the face, I guess all scrubs work the same way, meaning that they should be used only twice a week.

I have stopped using this (Brother's turn. Finally! Lol.). I don’t need it anymore anyway, since my back acne's all gone. (:
