TELLY: Poetic Justice《微笑正义》

It isn't everyday that I rush to complete my tasks of the day JUST so that I can plop myself in front of the telly at 9pm and watch my drama in peace. And it isn't everyday that I catch a Mediacorp production. Too often, the dramas involve a lot of screaming and shouting, unnecessary bitch slapping and way too many in-your-face moral lessons. And a lot of screaming and shouting. Which I really, really hate. It's like it has been a long day and all you want to do is to go home and watch a nice drama but nope! You just hear lots of mangled, shrieking noises and I just want to throw things at the telly.

BUT anyway, Mediacorp seems to be taking a different direction with Poetic Justice《微笑正义》 and I love it to bits! This drama is about a group of people involved in investigative journalism. Each episode deals with a different case and I like that the cases deal with not very common but probable issues and they vary quite a bit. AND well, (This is because I'm a very girly girl.) the best thing of all is that a love triangle is interwoven in the story line!

(Though I'm a little upset with last night's episode because now, it's like the 2 girls have to wait for the guy to make a decision and I'm just like "GIRLS! BACKBONE PLEASE!!!".)

Rui En portrays Liu Yan Zhi(刘言之), a television journalist and news anchor of fictional media company, Real TV. She started out as a nondescript character and as a result of certain circumstances, became one of Real TV's news anchor.

I felt that Rui En was always acting way too cool and she was really unnatural as Zhang Ya Le 章雅乐 in A Tale of 2 Cities《樂在雙城》, but I really like her in this show. AND I like that Mediacorp is finally doing something MORE with artists' looks (Read Xiaxue's entry here.). Rui En looks fabulous with this copper red shade!

Rebecca Lim is Feng Luo Ling(冯若凌), the anchorwoman of 'Real TV'. I don't really like the fact that she started out as a really ambitious woman, only to mellow down because of *drum rolls* love. MEHHH! But oh wells. There needs to be a story.

This is the first time I'm seeing her acting chops (Nope, I didn't watch 'Fighting Spiders'.). She wasn't very impressive in No Limits《泳闯琴关》 but this! She acted really well and I've become quite a fan. And seriously, she looks like Vintage Barbie!

The two leads of the show... Yada yada yada.

And quite surprisingly, I really like Sora Ma as Zhong Rui Yao(钟芮瑶)! She's incredibly cute and her funny banters with Guo Liang's Ouyang Qiu(欧阳丘) created a nice contrast to some of the serious tones of the drama.

The drama is punctuated with songs by Ding Dang and it really set the right moods for most scenes. The above insert song is my favourite. (: I have some issues with the filming (Like some scenes were dramatically edited; Movements that were made to go slow turned out corny instead of climatic.) but umm... Heh heh. I'm just a girl who has only attended ONE film module and well, watched like a gazillion idol dramas.

Anyway, I really LOVE this drama and have been tweeting and forcing getting people to watch it (As usual.). I hope Mediacorp produce more of such shows because then, it will stop floundering. Or drowning.

And because XinMSN's Catch-up TV sucks, you can watch the episodes here.

TELLY: Once upon a time, there was a switch at birth.

Mum asked me if I watched 'Once Upon A Time' earlier this year and I was like "No?!? I haven't heard about it?!?" and how in the world is it possible that Mum heard of a drama that I didn't know about?!? So of course, I launched into a marathon of fairy-tales-given-a-dose-of-reality.

I took less than a week to swallow the entire series and was pestering the boyfriend to watch it, with absolutely no consideration that he had not ended this examinations then.

I'm rushing off to a hair appointment now so I won't say much but Jared S. Gilmore is PRECIOUS as Henry Mills and Jamie Dornan is SO CUTE (Cuter than Ian Harding!!! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!!!) as The Huntsman but umm... He died (Sorry for the spoiler.). Also, it's difficult to not feel for each character as you go through their past and see how they become what they are.

(Sorry for the abruptness but this is the end of what I have to say about the series. Haha. I'm rushing. NEXT!)

I LOVE ABC FAMILY SHOWS and 'Switched At Birth' is my latest obsession! I love how down-to-earth this series is. It deals with real issues. There are no vampires swooping around, no insane bitching and backstabbing (Well, there is just one girl Simone. But the things she does are not far-fetched. Unlike a certain series which has completely gone to the dumps with the horrible writing. All the characters are completely OUT of characters. *rolls eyes*)... Just very real issues.

And even though Vanessa Marano started out as a very annoying Bay Kennish, she is quickly becoming one of my favourite actresses. (:

I have quite a number of thoughts about this show but I will save them for another entry (Because I am SOOO late! Crap.). Toodles!!!

TELLY: 步步惊心 (Startling by Each Step)

This has to be the most romantically depressing period drama ever. Oh gawd. I don't even want to think about it but all of a sudden, my entire world is filled with the gorgeous and incredibly manly 四阿哥 (Played by Nicky Wu). Anyway, this entry is pointless because I don't want to talk about the show at all. It is THAT depressing (But oh-so-romantic... *melts*).

This song is sang by the lead actress, 马尔泰·若曦, played by Cecilia Liu, who's very gorgeous (She and Nicky Wu should just get together in real life. *melts* Hahaha. My head's way up in the clouds.). The soundtrack's pretty good but this is my favourite song (I like the theme song too. But it makes me tear listening to it. Not that this doesn't... But oh wells.).

And it's time for me to hit the books. Tullah!

RAMBLINGS: When Harry Met Sally

I love that you get cold when it's 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it's not because I'm lonely, and it's not because it's New Year's Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

- Harry Burns

I can't quite remember how I did my quotes in previous entries. The fact that the way in which I did them may be different (No, they are definitely different.) irks me but I'm too lazy to dig through old entries. The inner clashes of one personality. If that makes any sense.

Anyway, I decided to end tonight with a chick flick, something which I haven't done so in a really long while. So I googled chick flicks and got a few, 'Gone With The Wind' (Which is a whooping 3-hour long movie. I'm probably never gonna watch that because my attention span for slow things is that short.), 'Sabrina' (Which is a black and white movie and I love colours.) and the more recent (As compared with the other two.) 'When Harry Met Sally'.

Truthfully, the movie was a tad too slow and boring for me. Guess vampires and wolves took the fun out of everything, which makes things a little sad. I hope I can learn to appreciate slow things again. BUT (There's always a but.)... Right before the movie ends and even though Billy Crystal isn't Clark-Gable gorgeous, he says this amazing chunk of words and it makes the whole movie so friggin' sweet. It's almost diabetic, actually. Oh gawd. *throws pink flowers everywhere*
-

'The Vampire Diaries' returned yesterday (Or the day before) and SPOILER ALERT! Damon finally kissed Elena! F-I-N-A-L-L-Y! Took them long enough. I was actually hoping Elena would kiss him first because then, it would make the kiss more potent but ack! No such luck. But I guess it's more romantic when the guy does the whole kissing business first.

Oh whatever. But I do love Damon a whole lot more now. As for Stefan and Bonnie, as annoying as always... Bonnie is such a flat character. AND WHY DIDN'T WE SEE CAROLINE IN THIS EPISODE? Or maybe she did appear... I'm getting a little mixed up because I have started re-watching the entire drama. Gets a little boring though.
-

Tomorrow's going to be a day with Howard Schultz. I started on 'Onward' ten thousand years ago and have yet to complete it. I'm hoping I can cover the entire book before school starts. I have to! Whether I can finish the book or not will depend on how deep my loyalty for Starbucks runs (cue: Dramatic music.).

Haven't rambled in ages and the above felt really good. Alrighty. It's gonna be an early night for me (As early as it can be anyway.). Gawd! I do miss rambling! Okay, tullah! :D

P.S.: Oh! I read 'Norwegian Wood' and gawd! And I hated it. I don't know if it's because I didn't read it deeply enough or it's because I truly hated it. But it's like all Japanese books have the same formula; someone has this really massive emotional baggage, the protagonist tries to reach out to her (Usually, it's a her. Based on the 5 Japanese books that I have read. I think it's 5.) and he (Usually, it's a he.) always fails and then, she dies or goes away without leaving a SINGLE HINT to her enigma. It's so... UGH! I hate stories that leave you hanging but maybe that's the beauty of it. But ugh! I hate it. Absolutely hate it.

P.P.S.: I'm on a roll tonight. Okay, bye! Thanks for reading if you did get till here! :D

RAMBLINGS: I wish I was the moon tonight.

from here.

Chimney falls and lovers blaze
Thought that I was young
Now I've freezing hands and bloodless veins
As numb as I've become

The latest episode of True Blood has got to be the most romantic and most beautiful and most perfect (Even though this phrase is not at all legit.). To quote Sookieverse, 'No fangs. No violence. It’s not about the blood this time. Just connection…intimacy, and need.'.

That's the way things should be. It wasn't like this with Bill. At all. Theirs had lust scrawled all over it. Gosh, I kinda wish Anna Paquin was with Alexander Skarsgård now. Even though I am fully aware that they are merely acting and I'm being a total ditz.

The song was perfect. And where they did it, perfect, perfect, perfect! Last night's episode resonated perfection.

I'm so sleeping with a smile on my face. Nights y'all! (:

RAMBLINGS: Take 3!

This is my 3rd attempt at writing my happenings for the past 2 weeks. I don't know how much to let on and how much to keep to myself and hopefully, forget in time to come. Haha. I'm going to say this in the briefest way possible because I'm also really knackered at the moment.
-

It is my intention to do something new every summer. So I have worked at a school bookshop, been a barista, taught kids, babysat, did administration work (Which I absolutely abhor!), promoted beauty products and worked as a beauty assistant at Sephora. This summer, I thought I try acting. It was a really spur of a moment thing. I didn't have a portfolio so I sent in photos taken at events.

In the span of less than 2 weeks, I have gone for 5 auditions. Insane, I know. Especially when I have zero background, save for some class plays (Which obviously do not count.). I don't know where I found my guts to go for such stuff, really.

I got rejected for a polytechnic student's final project, got a role in an Okto programme, scored a small part in a Mediacorp project which got cancelled yesterday but was only notified today, right before another casting (I'm insanely upset about this one because it was a role that I was pretty sure I could do good in. )': ), will have a small part in the National Day's video and am waiting replies for 2 other projects (Which I really have no hope in because I was literally shaking. BIG SIGH.).

Okay, I need to breathe.
-

Anyway, I had my filming for Okto today. I had like only 4 lines to say and I had to act bimbo and cute. Lol. But I'm insanely grateful to Aisyah for giving me this opportunity and GUESS FRIGGIN' WHAT?!? I GOT TO SEE BENJAMIN HENG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *jumps up and down* And I even got to look at him directly in the eye and stuff. Yes, yes! I had a scene with him (Together with 2 other girls.). Seriously, my life is complete. COMPLETE!!! *throws confetti*

And just because I'm a makeup fanatic, I got to try on MUFE's foundation, which is a real classic! The MUA used M.A.C's Warm Soul on my cheeks and I know he used an Estée Lauder mascara on me, which made my lashes flutter like mad but no way am I going to look into high-end makeup (Yeah, like NARS isn't... *rolls eyes*)! He didn't know what to do to my hair, so I ended up looking like the above. And I was supposed to be a potential wife... Pedophile much? LOL.

But anyway, thank goodness I forgot none of my lines!!! I didn't fumble and hopefully I displayed the right expressions. Fingers crossed that the final product will be okay and my face doesn't look fat and puffy and my eyes don't look puny so that I look like a complete China product (My fringe was straight, no thanks to my stupid decision to have my fringe cut the day before.) and and... And I don't know what else. The main thing is... I GOT TO SEE BENJAMIN HENG! *has a fangirl moment* But I was cool. I hope. I GOT TO FRIGGIN' LOOK AT HIM DIRECTLY IN THE EYE!!! *self-combusts repeatedly*

Okay, chill. Charlene, chill. *SQUEALS* Okay, chill. Actually, I AM chilled. I'm too tired (And upset.) to be hyped up actually.
-

To celebrate who-knows-what, I finally ordered the Juicy Couture Heart Logo Diamante Stud Earrings!!! I have been wanting this for the longest time! But they cost £54.00 initially and could only be shipped to the UK. Now they are £33.00 and only can't be shipped to the States! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! But alright, there is totally no justification whatsoever as to why I should have them. Hmm... In replacement for a trip overseas? Sigh. I choose going overseas! But my friends are either doing their internship or saving up for their graduation trips. SIGH.
-

So yes, here ends my entry. I have been very tired and it's all showing on my face. Can you believe it? It's the hols and I have the worst complexion ever!!! Ughhh!

I'll be having breakfast with Dor tomorrow, meeting ZT after that for a 'photoshoot' for my blog and then, that's the end of my Sunday. Monday's brunch/ lunch is going to be spent with Chua and Michelle. Tuesday's the filming for the National Day video and then, it's gonna be blog entries and more blog entries. Oh yes! Hui Ping's returning tomorrow so I foresee many 'chillax' days with her. The sister is coming back on Wednesday!

Alrighty. Nights y'all!!! OH OH! 'True Blood' returns TOMORROW! It has been so long!!!

TELLY: 醉後決定愛上你 (Drunken to Love You)

Morning! It's 5.45am now and I have no idea why I'm wide awake and bursting with energy. My Internet isn't being the friendliest thing at the moment so I'm typing this out on Notepad first. Guess you'll be seeing this when... Well, when my Internet decides to be nice. :\

Anyway, this isn't a beauty or food related post! But I figured I ought to share because I'm so so SO obsessed with it! And it is *drum rolls*...

醉後決定愛上你 (Drunken to Love You)!!! I haven't touched idol dramas in about 10, 000 years. Okay, no. 2 years. But I was waiting for all my American shows to start (TRUE BLOOD, hello! Their promo has 'Waiting Sucks.' all over it but it has been a YEAR and I am STILL waiting! GAH! Start already!) and I remembered Mike He had a new show (幸福最晴天 (Sunny Happiness). NOT promoting this show! It IS nice but it is in NO WAY as awesome as DTLY!) so I decided to watch that. And after every idol drama, you are.... Or at least, I am always left with the empty feeling (Like, WHY ISN'T MY LIFE LIKE THAT?!?) and I decided to fill that emptiness with MORE idol dramas. Haha.

I was sniffing around Funshion and I found DTLY!!! And I have watched it like only a gazillion times, whilst waiting for new episodes to air on Sunday! Crazy, I know. Addicted, I am aware. But who cares?!? It's the hols! *throws confetti*

DTLY stars the very adorable 杨丞琳 (Rainie Yang) and the HILARIOUS 張孝全 (Joseph Chang)! This is supposed to be a spin-off/ sequel to the very popular 命中注定我愛你(Fated to Love You), which I found a little draggy (But nice. :D ). Anyway, I don't see ANY resemblance between the two. :\

Well, other than the fact that it's *takes a deep breath* girl meets boy who's attached but the girlfriend's a major ass and so boy falls in love with the first girl *breathes*.

fuckyeahasiandrama@tumblr

Okay, I really have no idea who Joseph Chang is. Verlyn first spotted him at some MTV show (But he was too tanned for her liking. She likes him now though! :D) but other than the facts which Wikipedia gave, I know nothing about him (He acted in some film which he was nominated for some awesome award or something. But uhhh, where Mandarin is concerned, idol dramas are as far as I go. Unless they are those kungfu shows, which the dad, sister and brother like, so I end up watching them as well. I don't really like fighting but I do loves vampires. OKAY, STOP DIGRESSING!).

Oh oh! Apparently, there's some Channel U Show, Cooking Without Clothes, which he acted in, with Ann Kok. And they had a kissing scene. And I do not like Ann Kok. Grrr!

But anyway, Joseph is so INCREDIBLY cute! He isn't like movie-star good-looking but who cares?!? His expressions are so friggin' natural and hilarious! GOSH! I can watch him all day and still burst out laughing like an infatuated prepubescent! His acting skills are HELLISHLY top-notch! I mean, okay. Acting chops and idol dramas don't exactly go together (Look at the plethora of pretty boys in idol dramas who can't act for nuts! Yes, I still watch them. Complete sucker for sappy love stories and cheesy lines. They make my heart go "Awww...") but Joseph's reactions and expressions are crazy natural AND funny!

(10 minutes later)

I just attempted writing a summary but I absolutely suck at it. I make the most exciting show the most mundane, so just go watch it! And if you need any more convincing (Which you probably do because all that I am doing here is jumping on the chair and screaming that you NEED to watch it. Haha.), DTLY has the HIGHEST ratings so far! *cheers, dances and throws more confetti*

So go, go go watch this instant! You can watch it on Youtube, Viki.com and Funshion. New episodes air every Sunday at 10pm, Taiwan's timing. But YouTubbers are hellishly awesome. You can watch it the next morning, WITH English subtitles. Gawd! YouTube's awesome but that's only because of the YouTubbers!

koolcampus@wordpress

Oh yes! If you need any more reasons to watch the show, well, here is one VERY valid one *points above*! Again, I have no idea who he is other than the fact that his name is 白梓軒 (Tom Price). Very dashing and he CAN act. Thank goodness. Like the industry needs another Wu*AHEM*Zun. Then, there's also the very gorgeous 許瑋甯 (Tiffany Xu), who can act too! But I'm not posting a photo of her because she's like the bad girl. Haha. XD

And oh yes! 小鬼 (Xiao Gui) is also acting in the show *squeals*!

Alrighty. That's all for this entry! And oh yes! If you need more shows to watch, look for me!!! :DDD Total telly junkie here! Heh!

And and it's only 2 days to Sunday *squeals even harder*!!!

(I'm not a mouse in disguise. I promise you.)

RAMBLINGS: The Lloyd Dobler Effect

Say Anything ruined a generation of women. Virtually every chick from age 25 to 40 spends her life desperately seeking Dobler, a sensitive soul who wants to make a career out of loving his girl. In fact, the “Lloyd Dobler Effect,” as this phenomenon is called, is so strong it has spawned several essays and critiques (mostly from men) who cast scorn upon the character and the mythos which cropped up around him.

Yes, I know he’s fictional in every sense of the word, but does that stop me from dreaming of Dobler? Absolutely not. That said, would I turn down a ride in Jake Ryan’s Porsche? Hell no.

HAULS: Kitson 2010 Autumn & Winter Collection and InRed

Afternoon Muffins (:

Today, I made a trip down to NAC's Kinokuniya and look at what I got!

I really love the Marc Jacobs' pouches! The daisies are incredibly cute! (: The material's kinda yucky though. It's PVC, I think?

Alright. I've got to jet. A pile of homework is waiting for me. :\

Anyway, does anyone watch MTV's 'The City'? Erin Kaplan, ELLE's Director of Public Relations, is my latest muse! (:

And oh! I heard 'The Vampire Diaries' Season 2 starts tomorrow. Is that right?
