EVENT: PUPA's Revolutionary Mascara Vamp! with Giorgio Forgani

On May 11th, I attended PUPA's Revolutionary Mascara Vamp! with Giorgio Forgani event. I finally got to meet Lynn, who extended the invitation to me! We have been exchanging emails and I missed her at a couple of events so it was really good to finally have a chance to speak to her offline. And she's so bubbly! :D

(She and Mimi, the Brand Manager, are really funny!)

I met Fel after she ended work and we made our way to Italian (Very apt, seeing that PUPA hails from Italy!) Senso Ristorante & Bar at 21 Club Street #01-01.

Before I bring you through the event, let's take a glance at the brand!

PUPA is an 'all-rounded' brand. Makeup, skin care, body treatments, fragrances... PUPA has got them all covered! The brand's vision is to create the PUPA woman who is confident, knows exactly what she wants and how she wants to feel... She's passionate and free and she does everything for herself, first.

PUPA prides herself in providing products that are innovative and of the highest quality. She ensures she is at the forefront by doing extensive research and coming up with the most glamorous colour trends.

Here are some body treatments that will enhance and reshape your curves so that you can be the PUPA woman!

And presenting... PUPA's makeup! Very gorgeous, especially the blushes with their veins!!!

Some shots of the individual makeup items!

I love the Luminy Baked Blushes, especially 06 and 08! LOOK AT THE GORGEOUS, TO-DIE-FOR VEINS!!!

(Does 08 not resemble a certain Mineralize Skinfinish?!?)

Before dinner began, we had a makeup demonstration conducted by Giorgio Forgani! He's PUPA International Celebrity Makeup Artist. He flew all the way from Italy to Singapore, just to grace the launch!

Here's Miss Singapore Universe 2011, Valerie, who was the model for the night!

And TADAHHH! The completed look! Valerie looked so elegant in purple!

Here are 3 bullet points I picked up!

1. Strong eyebrows are very important because they frame the face! So make sure you fill them in (Go one shade lighter than your original shade!).

2. Avoid yellow-based eyeshadows as most Asians have yellow undertones. Yellow-based eyebrows will make your eyes seem sallower.

3. PUPA's Volume lipgloss in 100 is THE soulmate for smokey eyes!

After the demonstration, we all settled down for a satisfying and scrumptious dinner! It was my first time trying parma ham!!! We played around with the makeup too (Those that you saw earlier!) and Mimi had a lovely chat with us about PUPA and her current/ upcoming products. (: You can keep yourself updated with PUPA's news by liking this page here. (:

It was a really lovely evening, which ended off with group shots (But of course!). :DDD Big thank-yous to Lynn, Mimi, Giorgio and PUPA for making my night!

We have many American, French, Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean beauty brands in our market so it's really cool that Italian ones are coming in too. (: This way, we have more choices and we can find a brand that not only works for us, but also, speaks to us. (:

We each took home a pretty-in-red giftbox! I'll share the products we got another time. It's time for me to hit the sack now. Have a fabulous Tuesday tomorrow! :D

REVIEW: Belif's Tinted Moisturizer Basic B.B.

It wasn't too long ago that I fell into the world of Belif and I'm thoroughly in love with the brand (As some of you may know... AHEM.). As I have been reading up a little on tinted moisturizers, it was pretty natural of me to get my hands on Belif's one. Haha!

Belif has 3 different types of tinted moisturizers; Tinted Moisturizer Basic B.B. (For normal/combination skin.), Tinted Moisturizer Powdery B.B. (For oily skin.) and Tinted Moisturizer Waterdrop B.B. (For dry skin.). I got the first one.

I have been using the Tinted Moisturizer Basic B.B. since April, very sporadically replacing it with one of Bourjois' foundation.

The Tinted Moisturizer Basic B.B. is said to provide a finish that 'covers skin imperfections to make skin look alive'. At the same time, it moisturizes the skin with Agave, a type of plant that hails from Mexico. Agave is known for its soothing and hydrating properties. It also helps to prevent breakouts.

The tinted moisturizer has SPF30/PA++ and is free from mineral oil, synthetic fragrance, synthetic dyes, synthetic preservatives and animal-origin ingredients.

The Tinted Moisturizer Basic B.B. is housed in a 30ml squeeze tube. You don't touch what you don't need, so kudos for hygiene! The tube is pretty sturdy and the size is perfect for placing it in your bag for touch-ups and most certainly, travels.

The tinted moisturizer comes in only a single shade, which is quite a pity but you would be glad to know that it isn't too white. It is a beige, with a very slight greyish tint. And it smells very much like The True Cream - Moisturizing Bomb; a very light, pleasant herbal scent.

It is neither viscous nor runny and it goes onto the skin smoothly. I use slightly less than a twenty-cent coin (Not a heap.), dot my face, and then, pat it in.

Having used this for close to 3 months, I can tell you that Belif did not disappoint me; This. Is. Almost-Gold and I love it so much that I bought a backup already. Heh. *guilty smile.*

Tinted Moisturizer Basic B.B. dries to a semi-matte finish and feels completely light (Lighter than a B.B. cream.) and comfortable. The coverage is superb, kinda like Missha's B.B. creams (And yet feels lighter! And Missha already feels light on the skin!). Check out my little freckle in the above two photos and the next two photos. (:

I kinda nicked myself a little, so there's the red spot. It is as red as blemishes can get on my face.

And here is how it looks like after the tinted moisturizer is applied on it! :D

Being a light tinted moisturizer, the Tinted Moisturizer Basic B.B. lasts well for a good 6 hours before flaws start peeking through. I skip powder when I use this, just because I don't like the matte look. And I don't do primer as well. So... THUMBS UP!!! :DDD

But nothing is perfect and this too has its not-so-good points. Agave is supposed to prevent skin troubles but I don't really see it. This is very much unlike the The True Cream - Moisturizing Bomb, which contains Comfrey Leaf and cleared up my skin very unexpectedly. I was actually hoping this would work in a similar way but it didn't. ):

Another thing, which is pretty small and I'm being very particular here, is that I don't know if it's a tinted moisturizer or a B.B. cream. The name and website contradict and hmmm... I like to know what my products are exactly. To me, judging by the texture and feel, I think it's more of a tinted moisturizer. Just in case, you are particular like me.

So yep, this is the end of my review. Leave a comment if you have any questions and I'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks for reading and Happy Saturday!!! :DDD

P.S.: This retails at $33. (:

RAMBLINGS: Breathe.

Whoo boy. Things have been coming up one after another that I haven't had time to collect my thoughts. I have completely given up on my one-photo-an-internship-day project. Well, not entirely. I update once in a long, long, long while on my Instagram.

Today, we met up with C, J and two other fellow interns for lunch-cum-feedback session. For me, I feel that I'm learning quite a bit (Even if it's brainless work.) as compared with my other friends, who are on internship and doing nothing. Doing nothing is the worst. I don't ever want to do nothing and get paid. My brains will go the dumps and I'll degenerate as a human being.

But whatever it is, I feel extremely fortunate to be in this program. Really, truly grateful. Even though I'm doing another semester to make up for it (And will most certainly complain like there's no tomorrow when term starts.). My fellow interns have been nothing but the best! They are all really nice and funny (Especially YW, who makes me laugh till my stomach hurts so bad. I'm convinced that at the end of my internship, my abs will make Victoria Secret's models weep.). The new guy, KM, fits in perfectly!

Ahhh! Can't wait till YW, KM and I get our butts to Down Under! I'm fretting about sleeping alone and winter work clothes but OH. SO. EAGER!!! :DDD
-

I guess the most exciting thing so far is that I now have my very own DSLR!!! It's a Canon EOS 600D. Very, very cool and I'm so pleased with it. Only that I feel like I'm holding a time bomb. And I handle it only over my bed. Which means that I'm never ever going to bring it out.

This is exactly why I do not bother with branded stuff. I'll just hole everything up in their original packaging and just admire them from time to time. *shrugs*
-

I'm still trying to figure things out. But I thank God that I found the most amazing boyfriend/ best guy friend (Just because Chua will FOREVER be my best girl friend.). Our personalities are the complete opposite so we fit like a puzzle.

I laid out all my cards one day and he still loves me like before. I can't get any luckier. xoxo

REVIEW: Clio Professional's Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liners

Last entry (Read it here!), I introduced Clio Professional's Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liners. Today, it's going to be a review. We will find out just exactly how waterproof and long lasting they are!

I used the liner in 6 Star Purple (for my experiment. Haha. I feel like I'm working on a science project.).

First, my waterproof test! The liner did not budge at all underneath the mini waterfall. The shade was as deep as before. When I dabbed it dry with a tissue paper, none of the liner got transferred over.

I don't know about you ladies, but I'm always afraid that I'll be caught in the rain. Besides (obviously) exposing myself to flu bugs, I may end up walking around with black tears (From my mascara/ liner.) without realizing it. And that would really be quite embarrassing.

This makes my waterproof test very essential and hurray! The Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner passes it!

Rubbing the liner after drenching it in water did, however, smudge it quite a bit. But I don't suppose you will be rubbing your eyes when you have done up your eyes prettily.

Lastly (And probably the most important, out of the three.), the durability of the liner. For the test, I did not apply any primer so that there aren't any factors affecting the results. Haha. Okay, I just wanted to test the liner, and only the liner alone. I drew on my eyeliner at 7.25am, doing a simple stroke across the length of my eye lid. I tightlined as well.

After lunch, which was about 1.45pm, I noticed slight smudging below my eyes. And by the time I got back, which was 9pm, my eyes were as pictured above.

All in all, I think the Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner is a pretty decent eyeliner. I did not use a primer at all and from the above photo, the shade of the liner is still pretty deep. The tail wore off slightly.

I think it was the liner which I used to tightline that got smudged beneath my eye, with my blinking. But then again, this happens with all my other pencil eyeliners.

Will I purchase the other shades of the Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner? Yes, I will! Especially Beige Shine, since I misplaced my Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Midnight Cowboy *cries*. I'm not sure if it's a dupe but either way, I think the Beige Shine will be lovely when drawn on the inner corners and beneath the eyes!

Alrighty, thanks for reading! :D Do check out Clio Professional when you're in Watsons!

GOODIES: Clio Professional's Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liners

In April, Clio Professional launched its revolutionary eyeliner, Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner! Before I go into the nitty-gritty, here's a little about the brand. (:

Clio Professional is the birth child of a group of talented makeup artists who were seeking for their creative colour world back in 1993. They collaborate with manufactures from France, Italy, Germany, amongst others to come up with quality products. Thus, it wasn't long before they became one of the top makeup brands in Korea. In spite of their success, Clio Professional continues to better herself by meeting ladies' needs to stay beautiful and confident and maintain individuality.

This was the little pencil case I received from Clio Professional! Thank you, Natasha! (:

Inside the pencil case, were two Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liners. Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner is touted to be the next IT eyeliner! Made of a siliconic cross polymer, it is everything that a girl wants her eyeliner to be; smooth, even and ever-lasting staying power to create the perfect defined eye. Gelpresso is a cross between a pencil and a gel liner. And the best thing of all? It is talc and paraben free! Sensitive skin, shout your hurrays! :D

And just so you know how fabulous this eyeliner is, 100,000 pieces of Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liners were sold in its first week!

"Gelpresso pencils are so easy to use and glide on with such ease. This realyy is my new favourite eyeliner."
- Clio Professional's Ambassador Hyo Lee

Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner comes in 6 shades; Beige Shine, Dark Choco, Metallic Silver, Star Purple, Golden Black and Chic Navy.

I received the colours 5 Metallic Silver and 6 Star Purple. These are the 2 shades which Hyo Lee used in her posters to create the signature Korean pop star look.

And here are the swatches! 6 Star Purple is a deep purple with shimmers that I couldn't really manage to catch with my camera. ): Do swatch when you are in Watsons! It is so pretty!

5 Metallic Silver is stark greyish white with shimmers. Applying it in the inner corners of your eyes will make you look really awake!

The Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner works on the twist-up concept, so no sharpening is needed. A sharpener, however, is provided for you so that you can make the tip as pointed as you want it to be.

It is a little difficult to work with though, because the liner is really soft. I broke mine twice. You really need to be gentle with it.

The Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liner glides on easily and smoothly across my skin, so there is no need for any tugging of the skin. It blends easily, though I find that I have to work quite fast. Once dried, it was a tad difficult to try and make the purple blend into the silver (in the above photo.).

This is a much watered-down version of Hyo Lee's look. What I did was to apply 5 Metallic Silver to the inner corners of my eye and do a cat eye with 6 Star Purple. I finished it off by tightlining and drawing on my waterline with a black eyeliner.

This is a simple everyday look. I did a cat eye with 6 Star Purple and then, drew beneath my eye with 5 Metallic Silver.

See? You need not stick with boring ol' black! Purple and silver are pretty wearable colours too! :D

For this look, I drew a silver cat eye on top of the purple one. My eyelids fold quite a bit, so only the tails of the silver is left peeking out, emphasizing the purple.

So those are the 3 simple variations that I came up with the 2 Gelpresso Waterproof Pencil Gel Liners I was given. These liners are available at selected Watsons at $18.90 each. I think Clio Professional is having some discounts now, so do check the brand out when you are there! (: I'm pretty interested in Beige Shine, Dark Choco and Chic Navy!

Alrighty, I'm off to bed. I hope everyone has a good weekend! :DDD

GOODIES: Fancl's Hyaluro Premium

I ended my rather trying week at Sarnies yesterday. Girly chit chats and a good ol' muffin solve just about anything! Thank you Rachel, one of the very lovely BrandStory Babes, for the nicest time in quite awhile! :D (It was also my first time meeting her after exchanging quite a number of emails!)

Besides being TV critics and Rachel warning me about Sydney's winter, we, needless to say, talked about beauty products. At great lengths, most certainly. And one of the products she share with me was Fancl's latest supplements!

Meet Hyaluro Premium! Hyaluro Premium is basically the Nano Hyaluronic Acid Supplements, which I shared in March, but better (Quite obviously. Heh.). The key difference is that on top of the fact that it does all the hydrating work that the latter does, the Hyaluro Premium also encourages the production and retains the presence of Hyaluronic Acid in the skin!

To put the main ingredients in an equation (I'm a bona fide geek and proud of it. *nods*):

Hyaluro Premium = Nano Hyaluronic Acid Supplements + Logan Extract + Lychee Seed Extract

The two new terms on the RHS (Right-hand side.) work together to 'promote the production and prevent the loss of Hyaluronic Acid' so that the word 'thirst' will be annihilated in our skin's vocabulary once and for all! Whoop whoop!

Nano Hyaluronic Acid: Improves moisture retention. Increases absorption rate for optimum result.

Patented formula N-acetyl Glucosamine derived from shrimp and crab: Enhances production of Hyaluronic Acid in the body.

Ceramide derived from rice extract: Strengthens skin cell barrier function in the stratum corneum.

Logan Extract: Promotes production of Hyaluronic Acid.

Lychee Seed Extract: Prevents loss of Hyaluronic Acid.

The tablets are housed in slim sachets, and each contains 6. One entire sachet is to be taken daily.

These aren't suitable for pregnant and lactating women, children and those allergic to seafood.

As voiced before, I'm not expecting a 180° turn on my skin after finishing the entire box. To me, beauty supplements provide gradual but long-lasting effects. (:

Fancl's Hyaluro Premium is available at all Fancl outlets, at $120 for a 30-day supply.

EVENT: Marc Anthony True Professional's Launch

On May 10th, I attended Marc Anthony True Professional's Lunch at The Boutique Hotel in Klapsons. Big thank you to the ladies from Touch Communications for the invitation! :DDD

For the uninitiated, Marc Anthony is the man behind many celebrities' amazing dos. He and his team (Chosen by the man himself!) have styled the tresses of Catherine Zeta-Jones, Blake Lively, Paris Hilton, Fergie, Eva Longoria, JUSTIN BIEBER (Caps for any young readers out there!) and the list goes on and on.

Marc Anthony came from a family of hairdressers so it was little wonder and perhaps, natural that he found his passion and place in this world. Through his products, he hopes to be able to bring out 'that sense of confidence and flirtatiousness that beautiful hair can give a woman'.

8 out of 14 available Marc Anthony True Professional ranges will be launched exclusively at Watsons (Yay, Watsons!).

There were 3 hair demonstrations and the above photos are for the Instantly Thick range. The lady who's working magic on the model's hair is Marc Anthony Salon's Artistic Director and Stylist Marilisa Sears. She has personally styled for the Biebs! And nope, she wasn't the one who took away his windswept hair. She was for it. And nope, I'm not a Biebs fan.

Sears applied the Instantly Thick's Hair Thickening Cream at the roots of the model's hair, teased and blew dry! And va-va-voom! Voluminous hair!

And before I go onto my review, here's a shot of the ladies at my table! :DDD The photo is taken from dear Yvette. (:

I'm currently using the Instantly Thick range. My hair's pretty flat at the top so I was hoping that this would help!

The Instantly Thick range rests on a foundation of a secret blend of Hydrolyzed Corn, Soy and Phytokeratin (A type of Wheat Protein.). This formula expands each hair strand to plump up your tresses!

The lid opens up to reveal a nozzle from which you can pour the shampoo and conditioner out from. One thumb up for hygiene but one thumb down because the opening is pretty big. I always pour out more than I need. This is especially so for the shampoo as it is less viscous.

You know how some shampoos can live without the conditioners? Well, unfortunately the Instantly Thick Hair Thickening Shampoo isn't one of them. After shampooing, my hair is left feeling a little dry. But this isn't as dry as Herbal Essences or TRESemmé. It doesn't feel like it is stripping all the oils out of my hair but it doesn't feel very sleek either.

However, when used with the Instantly Thick Weightless Volumizing Conditioner (What a mouthful!), my hair is left feeling light, soft and airy. It doesn't feel like it's being weighed down with oils like how some conditioners can make you feel.

As for volume, the effect is subtle but noticeable and you can actually feel a difference. I haven't used other volumizing shampoos/ conditioners before these so I can't really compare. But I'm pretty pleased with the Instantly Thick range. (:

I'll be including the Instantly Thick Hair Thickening Cream to my hair routine soon to give my crown more of a poof (It is incredibly flat.). I just need to find the discipline to wake up earlier. Heh.
