EMPTIES: July's goodbyes

Honeycé's Moisture Repair Shampoo
What it is: Made in Japan, this shampoo contains 8 different types of honey sourced from all over the world (Manuka Honey, Raspberry Honey, Clover Honey, Rosemary Honey, Orange Honey, Lemon Honey, Acacia Honey and Blueberry Honey), organic oils (Argan Oil and Jojoba Oil) and Keratin to repair hair damage.

What I think: My hair has returned to its original state - big, poofy and frizzy. This shampoo kept my hair cleaned, smelled pretty nice and was decently moisturizing. There wasn't really a need to follow up with a conditioner.

Now Foods Solutions' Avocado Oil
What I think: I was trying to save my Innisfree makeup remover when I decided to break into this. And it did such a splendid job of removing every hint of makeup. Even my stubborn-for-very-good-reasons Japanese mascara conceded. *victory sign* Also, it left my skin looking really clear after each wash. Favourite makeup remover from here on.

Phyto's Phyto 9 Ultra-Dry Hair Nourishing Day Cream With 9 Plants
What it is: This lightweight leave-in conditioner is formulated with 9 plant extracts to hydrate, smooth and protect medium-to-coarse, dry hair from environmental stressors and split ends. It is free from sulfates and phthalates.

What I think: I bought this because Fel said that this made her hair super smooth and she couldn't stop touching it when we were out. Umm... I thought it was only okay for me. Hahaha. It was just like any other leave-in conditioner and didn't leave any significant impression. I like that it was pretty light though.

Salcura's DermaSpray (Intensive)
What it is: This everyday moisturizing spray is made for those who are prone to eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, rosacea and dry skin. It is 98% natural, contains no steroids or harsh chemicals and nourishes the skin, while effectively breaking the itch-scratch cycle. It is formulated with Sea Buckthorn for nourishment and cell regeneration, Lavender to calm and balance and Rosemary for its for its ability to support collagen development and eliminate free radicals.

What I think: I apply this whenever I get really stressed and the eczema on my back flares up. It really helps to reduce the itch and I am so in love with the minty, Eucalyptus scent. Heh. But I don't think this is very moisturizing so I do still apply moisturizer. Also, the spray nozzle on my bottle is faulty. :\ But yes, I will buy this again and again. Until my eczema goes away. And we all know that it won't. Ever. Big sigh. So thank you, for this. :D

Phyto's Phytolisse Ultra-Glossing Finishing Serum
What it is: A finishing serum that instantly calms flyway and tames frizz so that hair looks sleek, smooth and healthy, with a sublime shine. It is free from sulfates and parabens.

What I think: Again, this was only okay for me. Hahaha. I really like Phyto's shampoos and conditioners, but somehow their leave-ins don't really work for me. This is lightweight though, but it didn't really tame my frizz. #toounrulyforya

Innisfree's Apple Juicy Emulsion Lip & Eye Remover
What I think: I LOVE(d) this so much when I first used a sample of it. It removed my eye makeup so cleanly that I promptly ordered the full-sized bottle online. Only to find out that our local stores sell them cheaper (Whut whut. Ikr. Do your research.). I still love this but I love my Avocado Oil more *points above*, just because that's natural and this, well, isn't. But yes, Innisfree has some really awesome products.

Bioderma Sensibio Mask
What it is: This soft and creamy mask moisturizes and soothes intensely, provides lasting comfort, restores skin's radiance and guarantees optimum tolerance.

What I think: This mask actually stung a little whenever I had it on, so I won't repurchase it. But it did moisturize my skin very nicely and left it feeling smooth like tofu.

A'Pieu Essential Source Snail Cream
What I think: I bought this because it's a favourite of Alice from W2Beauty. I really like the gel texture but it didn't work for me. My skin still felt dry when I had this on. :\ And it was quite expensive...

Escada's Especially Escada and Especially Escada Elixir
What I think: These scents are my absolute favourites. I really like the light rose notes in them and they smell feminine without being overpowering. Will totally make this MY scent when I finish my current stash.

FRAGRANCE: Gucci Bamboo

Gucci's latest fragrance, Gucci Bamboo, is precisely tailor-made for the strong and savvy Gucci woman. Just like the bamboo, the Gucci woman takes on the challenges of life confidently and with ease. Stunningly beautiful and emerging star Gal Gadot is the face of this fragrance.

Gucci Bamboo consists of natural and resonant ingredients that create a captivating olfactory story. Woody and warm notes vibrate through the heart and base. Deep Sandalwood, heady Tahitian Vanilla and unique grey Amber accords strike a complementary contrast with the inherent femininity found in the exotic floral notes of soft Casablanca Lily, feminine Orange Blossom and delicate Ylang Ylang.

Gucci Bamboo comes in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml at $106, $122 and $178 respectively.

ATM: Say 'Grazie mamma!' with Dolce&Gabbana!

May 10th is the day when we celebrate the love that comes from the core of every family, our mother. (: She is endlessly inspiring and resourceful, and she was the woman Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana celebrated in their Fashion Show.

This Mother's Day, Dolce&Gabbana is all ready to spell thanks to every mother with their fragrances:

  • Dolce Floral Drops
To celebrate your Mother's kindness and caring vitality, full of love and a gentle sensibility.
Dolce Floral Drops preserves the harmonious signature of white flowers found in Dolce, combining the same floral notes but enriching its character with the lively and crisp green opening of Neroli leaves. The scent is infused with White Amaryllis, a rare white floral scent used in perfumery for the very first time with their creation. This precious ingredient forms the heart of the fragrance, just as every mother is the heart of her family.

  • The One
For the one who is always there for you, the one whose strength is present throughout the entire family.
The One opens with a sparkling and modern interpretation of fresh top notes of zesty Bergamot and Mandarin combined with juicy Lychee and Peach. The heart encompasses the timeless and feminine scent of the Madonna Lily, Lily of the Valley, and Jasmine. The scent unfolds to reveal a deep base of rich Vanilla and resinous Ambery notes combined with smooth Musky notes. Beautiful and timeless, yet modern and unmistakable, The One is a work of contemporary luxury. Beaming in gold, it is meant to be seen, celebrated and adored, much like any mother.

Dolce Floral Drops comes in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml for $99, $138 and $156 respectively. The One comes in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml for $107, $153 and $178.

ATM: Spending my V-Day with some Dolce Floral Drops

It is the clarity of dawn.
It is the delicate scent of freshly picked white flowers, still wet with dew.
It is the crispness of Neroli leaves that accompany and enhance their aroma.
It is the echo of laughter from your beloved and the light trail of her perfume that triggers the memory.
It is Dolce Floral Drops, the new fragrance by Dolce&Gabbana.

This April, Dolce&Gabbana will be launching Dolce Flora Drops Eau de Toilette. The first flanker of the original Dolce Eau de Parfum, this fragrance is lighter and a little more crisp - very much like freshly picked flowers, but still retains the signature scent of the White Amaryllis.

Dolce Floral Drops is housed in a vintage-looking, misty green flacon that takes the unique shape of Dolce; thick glassed with curved lines for a contemporary feel, topped with a flower that is specially crafted to portray the marzipan sculptures seen in traditional Sicilian confectioners. A thin, black grosgrain bow sits around the neck to represent the classic white shirts and bow-ties that walked the early runway shows of Dolce&Gabbana. Last but not least, the word 'Dolce' is penned lovingly in the style of Domenico Dolce's father.

-
Top Notes
Light scents that are detected immediately upon application. Forms your first impression. Lively and crisp green opening of Neroli leaves and Papaya Flower that enriches the character of the fragrance and defines its freshness right from the start.

Middle Notes
Scents that emerge just before the top notes departs. Masks initial unpleasant impression of base notes, which improves with time. A harmonious combination of White Amaryllis, White Daffodil and White Water Lily.

Base Notes
Rich and deep scents that emerge before the middle notes departs. Brings depth and solidity to the fragrance. The floral signature is counterbalanced by a base of warm Musky notes, Cashmeran and Sandalwood.

This year, my V-Day was... Unexpected. It started out very homely (I'd like to think that this was how single Taylor Swift would spend her V-Day. Minus the coolness and Karlie Kloss. HAHA.) and ended on a note of fear, which quickly turned into many 'Aww...'s. Haha. Probably the strangest V-Day I ever had and ever will have.

My rather mundane V-Day started with a 4-hour attempt at making Tokyo Banana for my colleagues. 'Attempt' because this time, the oven decided to 'play punk' with me by baking only the top half of the sponge cake (Yes, blame the defenseless machine.). But the brother mentioned that the banana cream filing was better this time round, so yay! :D Practised the piano a little, studied Japanese (Planning to take JLPT N5 this July!) and ended the night with some drawing and painting. The girl in the orange striped top is a replica of one of @papercrownluvsu and @riflepaperco stationery pieces, which I really love and obviously failed to do any justice to it. But I'll keep practising so がんばって!And of course, I had Dolce Flora Drops accompanying me throughout the day. Yes, I do spritz a little perfume on at home sometimes. Just to, you know, feel a tad classy. Heh. (:

Then, this really 'frightening' thing happened. At around 11pm, right when everyone was about to retire, the doorbell started ringing like crazy. And I was really scared because it happened before - this burly dude, with all his luggage, told us that he was given our address to reside in. He did go away but of course, my imagination ran wild and I was thinking of murderers and kidnappers and... I basically fill my brain with too much thriller stuff. Anyway, back to the original story, it kept ringing and I went down with Dad and was like "Dad, don't open the door and let anyone in." (Like my Dad, who made me, didn't know better. -_-|||).

I stayed far away trying to make out the ominous shadow behind the door, as Dad opened it. And... Standing there was my cousin, JH, with a huge luggage. So I thought he fought with someone at home and decided to take refuge in our house but nope! Out of the corner, popped up the sister who was grinning away like a Cheshire cat. She just traveled 16 hours from Dublin so that she could spend Chinese New Year with the family! <333

Best V-Day present ever, but I was really scared for my family for a moment. Heh.

EMPTIES: Of all sorts for 2014

I'm pretty sure I did a product empties post before, but I can't seem to find the label. Mmhmm. Should probably do this more often, but it's so much trouble trying to keep the empty bottles when you're trying to keep your room 'tidy'. Lol. But anyway, here are some of the products that I have used up this year. Just some of them. Heh.

Nivea's Extra Whitening Cell Repair and Protect Body Milk
What it is: This milk contains concentrated Camu Camu and Acerola Cherry with 50x higher Vitamin C, which translates to 50x whitening power, and helps to repair the 10 signs of dull and damaged skin; dark spots, rough, itchy, flaky, cracked, tight, dry, dull, uneven, accumulated dull and sun-damaged skin. It also has UVA and UVB filters to prevent skin from re-darkening and has Hydra IQ which provides non-stop 24h+ moisture and reveals smoother skin within 14 days of regular use.

What I think: OMG, I had this for the longest time. It just refused to be used up. Lol. I bought this mainly to use it at night, after finishing my Nivea Body UV Whitening Serum SPF25 PA++. I like that it is lightweight and absorbs into the skin easily. But the whitening properties are not quite evident. It's probably because I'm rather fair already (Or so I have been told. But I don't think I am...), but anyway, I didn't get any darker when I was using this. So it's good for maintenance purposes for me, I suppose! I won't repurchase this again though, just because I have so many other lotions and this didn't really stand out.

Lush's Roots Hair Treatment
What it is: Infused with fresh mint and peppermint and spearmint oils, this hair and scalp treatment revitalizes the scalp, so that healthy hair starts at the roots. Extra virgin oil and honey soften and condition hair to make it shine without weighing it down. It gives dull, fine and thin hair volume and shine.

What I think: I use this so irregularly that I can't really comment on the shine. And I don't have fine and thin hair... So I shouldn't have bought this. LOL. I believe I told the SA that I wanted something to combat loss of hair (Stressful period, aye.). Hahaha. But anything that has peppermint needs to be in my toilet. Anyway, it does really make my scalp feel really good and 'awake' after each use. I really love the scent of it and how the ingredients are mostly natural. I might just repurchase this when I have extra moolah!

Fresh's Sugar Face Polish
What it is: This nourishing exfoliant is made with pure brown sugar and strawberry seeds. It refines and hydrates for a more radiant complexion.

What I think: I first came across this facial scrub in Catherine Walsh's Into the Gloss interview. I just love how Catherine looks; that silver pixie crop and matte red lipstick... That's what I'm having when I'm older. Anyway, this scrub is so good for my parched cheeks. I haven't got poreless skin like Catherine's BUT my skin just feels so healthy, soft and plump with moisture after using it. I usually leave it on for like half an hour or more. Haha. It's quite pricey so I usually stock up during Sephora's member sales. (:

Decléor's Aroma Confort Moisturizing Milk
What it is: Suitable for all skin types, this moisturizer envelops the skin in a comforting and protective layer of moisture. It re-hydrates the skin, improves skin's elasticity and firmness, enhancing the overall appearance of the skin and giving it a velvety smoothness.

What I think: This was an okay moisturizer. It did make my skin soft and smooth, but so do other moisturizers. I like how light it felt though.

Lancôme's Miracle Eau de Parfum
What I think: This is actually my scent when I was in upper secondary school and JC. And I used to 'bathe' in it; I sprayed on so much that my friends could locate where I was just by sniffing. Haha. A friend mentioned that I smelled like sunshine. Haha. I just like it because it was feminine but it wasn't overwhelming. And I like that I smelled like sunshine. :D

DKNY's Be Delicious Eau de Parfum
What I think: Mum got me this for Christmas and then, got me another bottle when she was at the airport and then, I got myself one at a sale. Lol. I love how refreshing and fruity this smells, but I wish it was a little stronger and lasted a little longer.

Weleda's Indulgent Body Lotion Kit
What it is: This starter kit is a convenient way to sample each body lotion and is perfect for travelling. Each formulation is distinguished by its holistic approach to stimulating and inspiring the body, mind and soul to achieve inner balance and boost one's own natural beauty. For a quick reference, (from left to right) Wild Rose Pampering Body Lotion - normal to dry skin, Pomegranate Regeneration Body Lotion - maturing skin, Citrus Hydrating Body Lotion - normal skin and Sea Buckthorn Replenishing Body Lotion - dry skin.

What I think: I came across this brand on Vivawoman and many Into the Gloss interviews, and so decided to get this kit on iHerb when it was available (It's perpetually OOS.). The body lotions make simple, fuss-free moisturizers and their scents are sooo good, calming and relaxing that I go to bed with the happiest thoughts.

Caudalíe's Beauty Elixir
What it is: Inspired by Queen Isabelle of Hungary’s elixir of youth, this powerful plant based anti-dull complexion treatment smooths away fine lines, tightens pores and gives the complexion an instant boost of radiance.

What I think: Haha. I really just bought this for fun, during one of Sephora's member sales. It was refreshing and minty, yes. But after going through 2 small bottles of it, I still didn't see any visible effects? Haha. I'm so hopeless with facial sprays anyway.

VMV Hypoallergenics's Id Monolaurin Gel
What it is: This gel is packed with a unique, skin-safe, coconut-derived antibacterial called monolaurin. It can be used as a treatment for sweat acne on the face, chest, back, arms, posterior, thighs etc., disinfects skin. and works as a mattifier to control shine and keep skin feeling cool and fresh.

What I think: Do you see those 2 bottles?!? Haha. I LOVE THIS GEL TO BITS. It really helps with back acne and works great as a deodorant, without drying out the skin too drastically. Some nights, I apply this on my face but the alcohol does bother me a little. But yes, I love this and have a backup bottle in my stash!

FRAGRANCE: BOSS MA VIE Pour Femme

BOSS MA VIE Pour Femme is the latest fragrance to join the BOSS Parfums family. It completes the trio, which includes BOSS NUIT Pour Femme and BOSS JOUR Pour Femme, and reveals a new dimension to the BOSS woman. The fragrance draws inspiration from the serenity that the BOSS woman feels when she steps out of her daily routine, stop and smell the flowers. It's the moment when she loosens up, enjoy some quiet me-time and savour life - her life.

Top Notes: Modernity - Cactus Blossom
Light scents that are detected immediately upon application. Forms your first impression.
Top notes of cactus blossom accord capture the invigorating green freshness of the uncompromising desert plant, providing a unique and modern element to the fragrance. Known to demonstrate unconditional love of life in any condition, the essence evokes a lively and uplifting brightness, igniting the BOSS woman to fully live her life and take pleasure in the moment.

Middle Notes: Femininity - Pink Floral Bouquet with Rose Bud
Scents that emerge just before the top notes departs. Masks initial unpleasant impression of base notes, which improves with time.
A blooming bouquet at the heart of BOSS MA VIE Pour Femme unifies the key florals of BOSS NUIT Pour Femme and BOSS JOUR Pour Femme, with a tender and soft pink feminine twist. Suave pink freesia and jasmine petals were blended with delicate rose bud, creating a natural floralcy. Often perceived as tender and delicate, rose buds carry the concentrated strengths of the densely layered, pure core of an immaculate rose, providing an elegant sensation of softness with strong femininity.

Base Notes: Confidence - Cedarwood
Rich and deep scents that emerge before the middle notes departs. Brings depth and solidity to the fragrance.
The intense warmth of sheer woods and cedarwood forms the base of the fragrance. Known to encourage an attitude of confidence and ease, it inspires the BOSS woman to take a moment to herself, grounding her with a heightened awareness of her feelings and surroundings.

-

BOSS MA VIE Pour Femme is a scent that I have been reaching out for every day. It's light and feminine, but not overwhelmingly floral... Perfect for the girl who's in-between (You know, neither too girly nor too boyish.) and as a daily scent. The bottle's simple and minimalistic. Wrapped in a classic ballet pink, it will adorn any vanity table elegantly.

BOSS MA VIE Pour Femme Eau de Parfum is available in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml. The shower gel and body lotion will be at $50 (200ml) each.

FRAGRANCE: This Christmas with P&G Prestige Fragrances‏

I love fragrances. I have been wearing them since I was 14, stealing a couple of spritz every morning from Dad's little shelf (Yes, I prefer the musky ones.). They provide little outlets of expression; whether it's the sassiness you're feeling in the morning, or the seriousness of the day's events... I really think that everyone should own one. Or two. Or a whole (small) chest of them, like me. Heh.

Anyway, Christmas is fast approaching and if you're scratching your head over the perfect gift for the fair maidens in your life, why not get them fragrances? Perhaps, ones that smell like their personalities? :D

Here are 3 P&G Prestige Fragrances‏ you might want to check out:

FRAGRANCE: LACOSTE L!VE

In September, Lacoste launched LACOSTE L!VE for our leading men. Energy and creativity are bottled in this fragrance as notes of lime and green leaves. It attracts the creative spirits, inspiring them in every aspect of their lives.

The flacon also tells the Lacoste story, that is edgy, strong and playful.

  • Edgy: This clean and minimalist cube offers a smart and edgy container for the dynamic fragrance within. Its contemporary primary colours provide a base for creative minds to build upon as they visualize all possibilities.
  • Strong: The bold design, with a subtle play of materials, draws a unique and instantly recognizable envelope for this fragrance.
  • Playful: The six sides of the cube give the opportunity to see things differently depending on the perspective. It pushes people to go and see beyond the obvious, to be surprised and energized. Just like the fragrance.

The dynamic of LACOSTE L!VE comes in 40ml ($70) and 100ml ($117). It also comes in deodorant stick ($37) and deodorant aero ($37).

P.S.: Leaving you with the very creative TVC for LACOSTE L!VE. :D

FRAGRANCE: Estée Lauder's Modern Muse

This September, Estée Lauder unveils her latest fragrance. Named the Modern Muse, it is inspired by today's woman who is strong, independent and confident, and follows her own rules. All these traits are reflected in the fragrance's innovative 'dual-impression' structure that alternates between the strength and softness of the following aspects:

  • Sleek Woods Accord: 2 Patchouli essences are wrapped in the creaminess of Madagascar Vanilla, rich Amber Wood and soft Musk to create an undeniably sensual finish.
  • Sparkling Jasmine Accord: The youthfulness and magnetic femininity of the Modern Muse is captured by the scents of the Exotic Mandarin, Honeysuckle Nectar, Dewy Petals, Jasmine Sambac China Absolute, Tuberose Fleur and Fresh Lily.

The fragrance has a woody scent, which I absolutely adore because it is feminine but not girly. It is elegant and is something that I will wear for work, dinners and formal events. Also, I really like how the bottle has meaning too. The navy bow is actually inspired by Estée Lauder's Youth Dew which was launched all the way back in 1953. A symbol of style and sophistication, it conveys the perfection of the Modern Muse. Splendid present for your girlfriend, isn't it? (:

The goodness of Estée Lauder's Modern Muse comes in 30ml ($88), 50ml ($130) and 100ml ($192). It is also available as a body lotion ($80) and shower gel ($80).

MAIL: styleXstyle's August The Little Black Beauty Box + GIVEAWAY

My first encounter with styleXstyle's The Little Black Beauty Box was back in February. I mentioned that it is one of the better, if not the best, subscription beauty boxes in Singapore (Click here to read!), because of the really good samples that you can get. So I was really thrilled to receive the August one a week ago! :D And guess what? I get to share the box with you too!

But hang on a minute, I'm getting ahead of myself...

styleXstyle understands just how tough it is for us to look beautiful. Hence, they have collaborated with Tangs to come up with a monthly box of various lush beauty treats, to provide you the ultimate beauty indulgence. All you need to do is to sign up as a member and purchase your The Little Black Beauty Box here. Then, chill and relax while styleXstyle takes care of all your beauty needs!

This August, styleXstyle covers all your travelling needs with the theme 'Jetsetter' (Very timely, I must say! I'll be travelling in 3 weeks' time! :D). Here are the items that you can find and some of my thoughts:

SK-II's Cellumination Mask-In Lotion
This lotion is formulated with SK-II's Aura Bright Cocktail EX and Pitera (But, of course!) to brighten and soften your skin, by lightening spots and reducing dullness. It also preps your skin to receive the full benefits of your SK-II skincare regimen. SK-II is one of my favourite brands and I actually tested out the Cellumination Essence EX last June (Click here to read!). My score for 'Radiance Enhancement' improved, so I can't wait to see what this can do for me!

Benefit's Specialist Dream Screen SPF45 PA+++
Benefit is a brand that I have recently started to explore extensively. Lol. But it's only in the makeup department. This little cutie here is a silky-matte and lightweight sunscreen, that halts ageing by protecting your skin against the evil sun rays. It comes out transparent, has a slight dewy finish and creates a smooth base for makeup to glide on. It smells a little clinical but nothing unpleasant. I like this because it sits comfortably on my skin throughout the day.

Radical Skincare's Anti-Aging Restorative Moisture
This multi-tasking cream satisfies the most demanding skins. It fights free radicals, increases your skin's hydration by 66% in 2 weeks and decreases wrinkle depth by 50% in just 4 weeks. Also, it's a favourite of Jessica Biel's. Going to spam it now. Brb.

Shiseido's White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream
This eye cream is formulated with the new breakthrough ingredient, Dark Circle Diminisher. It combats the 2 major cause of dark circles; pigmented melanin formulation (brown circles) and poor micro-circulation (blue circles), by inhibiting melanin production, fading existing pigmentation and improving micro-circulation. And gosh, you have no idea how much I need this! Especially when I wake up at 5.30am every morning and don't sleep till 12? Eeps. :\ Need to constantly remind myself that I'm no longer young. GLOOM.

SK-II's Cellumination Deep Surge EX
This night-time moisturizer brightens, evens out dull skin tone and refines rough skin texture. It contains the exclusive ingredient De-Melano P3C to reveal a healthy glow from within. I'm going to try this with the Cellumination Mask-In Lotion and get back to you! :D

Ralph Lauren's Midnight Romance
Ralph Lauren's combines the sensual pink peony and mysterious black vanilla to bring you the scent of passion that burns the brightest in the dark. I love little vials like this because it's great for touch-ups!

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream
Recently, I underwent a laser rejuvenationprocedure at Trinity Medical Centre (Marine Parade) to control my sebum production (Among other benefits. Will be blogging about this later!), and my skin got a little dry. So I have been using this at night to combat the semi-desert situation. It's lightweight, absorbs easily and I wake up to well-hydrated skin in the morning. I'm actually thinking of getting a full-sized tub for my upcoming trip! Mmhmm.

IOMA's Cell Protector SPF 50+ PA+++
I was invited to IOMA's launch for this new sunscreen but I couldn't make it because of work. :\ So I'm really glad there are sachets in here for me to try! It is a global protective skincare capable of counteracting the aggressions caused by exposure to sun and environmental stress such as pollution. It also contains Desoxine, a powerful plant-based active ingredient, that halts the ageing process due to oxidative processes.

featuring Sulwhasoo's Even Fair Perfecting Cushion and Benefit's Chachatint and Chachabalm.

Sulwhasoo's Even Fair Perfecting Cushion (No. 23)
Last but not least, Sulwhasoo's foundation in a cushion! It contains a flexible film-fixing polymer, that forms a thin protective barrier on your skin to leave your skin flawless and smooth for a long time. It also has apricot seed herbal moisturizer that promotes skin resilience and leaves skin fully moisturized all day.

Anything Sulwhasoo will get me all excited and jumpy and this was the first product I tried from the box. Coverage was medium and I didn't need a concealer. It gave me a complexion that was radiant and almost flawless. One thing though, it did cling on to dry areas. But then, you have the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream to prevent dry areas from happening in the first place! :D

And The Little Black Beauty Box doesn't end with just samples! There's a plethora of vouchers for you to redeem. :D I'm definitely using the $10 TANGS Beauty eStore Voucher to get something Sulwhasoo! Heh.

I know it has been an incredibly long entry, but there's just so much to share! :D Thanks so much for staying! Heh. Now, for the giveaway!

The Giveaway
I have 4 boxes of styleXstyle's August The Little Black Beauty Box to give to my readers! All you need to do is drop me an email at lovecharlenejudith@hotmail.com and tell me

  • your name
  • which product you want to try out the most and why.

The giveaway ends on August 20th, 5pm. All the best! :D

SPOTTED: Chime For Change by Gucci

Chime For Change is a collaboration started by Gucci's Creative Director Frida Giannini, actor Salma Hayek Pinault and singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter in 2013. The project raises funds and increases awareness in order to unite the voices speaking up for girls' and women's rights all around the word.

This year, Gucci is making a minimum pledge of $1 million to support Chime For Change products through the sales of 5 of the brand's iconic Gucci fragrances. They are

  • Floral by Gucci EDT (75ml for $168)
  • Gucci Guilty pour Femme EDT (50ml for $115)
  • Gucci Guilty pour Homme EDT (90ml for $138)
  • Gucci Première EDP (75ml for $202)
  • Gucci Made To Measure EDT (90ml for $144)

Each fragrance comes with a unique donation code, which we can use to support Chime for Change projects' 3 main focuses that are Education, Health and Justice.

66% of the world's illiterate adults are women and 60% of the children not in school are girls – but when girls are educated, they change their futures and improve outcomes for their families, communities and countries.

I picked Education with my donation code because it was, is and will be a big part of my life. I believe that education gives people opportunities to achieve whatever that they want. And it isn't just Math, Physics or Chemistry knowledge that we are filling our brains with. We are also shaping our thought processes and this will aid us in making mature, well thought-out (life) decisions. But yes, the other 2 initiatives are just as important.

Which initiative will you pick and why? (:

SPOTTED: S is for Sephora

I first came across Sephora when Becky Bloomwood went to New York City in Sophie Kinsella's 'Shopaholic Takes Manhatten', and was completely floored by just about everything. For a 15-year old very imaginative shopaholic in-the-making, that was like walking down the red carpet. Except that it's kind of a role reversal; instead of a thousand cameras flashing at you, your eyelids flutter at a thousand brand new products. And Sephora quickly established itself as the only reason why I wanted to go to the States back then. Small girl, 'big dream'. Haha.

Anyway, the dream has been rendered kind of pointless now because we have Sephora right here on our shores! And even though we haven't exactly got all the brands here with us, new ones are being brought in every few months. So wohoo!!! :DDD

BUT then, there's the problem of us getting bogged down by inertia sometimes. Plus the weather's sweltering, there are way too many people, the bed has developed magnetism of cosmic magnitude... Well, guess what?!! We can actualy have Sephora delivered straight to our door steps, all thanks to ZALORA Singapore! (:

Here are my current top picks that spell 'Sephora':

FRAGRANCE: Gucci's Made to Measure

This autumn, to further cement its position as one of the world's most stylish individuals, Gucci's Creative Director Frida Giannini conceived a new fragrance legend. Under the impeccably sophisticated guise of Gucci's Made to Measure, this fragrance is meant for the man who demands the very best.

This Gucci man is worldly and refined. His opinions have authority and others naturally defer to his judgement. Even in his daily routine, he stands out from the crowd in his Gucci suit and the classic Gucci scent. However, when the occasion calls for it, he strives to stand out with something that is uniquely tailored to his requirements. And he completes the whole thing with Gucci's Made to Measure.

Gucci's Made to Measure is an intensely masculine partner for the iconic Gucci Première, meant for the ladies. As the Première heroine is enveloped in her couture gown and fragrance, so is her companion in his made-to-measure suit and scent. He is a connoisseur, whose every move speaks of his desire to make a unique statement, giving him a distinctive edge. His fragrance, tailoring and demeanour set him apart from the rest – he is a man whom others aspire to be.

Made to Measure is a spicy oriental fragrance tailored to make a lasting impression

Top Notes
Light scents that are detected immediately upon application. Forms your first impression.
Notes of Anis Seed, hand-picked and distilled Tunisian Orange Flower and the best Calabrian Bergamot make the first encounter with the fragrance akin to the look and feel of a handmade suite. The smoothest Provencal Lavender tempers their potency, producing a caressing, soft, yet warm effect on the skin – stylish and comforting as a luxurious silk lining.

Middle Notes
Scents that emerge just before the top notes departs. Masks initial unpleasant impression of base notes, which improves with time.
The scent's core is eclectic, lavishly spiced and textured – a beguiling combination fused to idiosyncratic effect. Texture and masculine elegance are achieved with piquant and bracing notes of Juniper Berry. While the rich, tonal enigma of Sri Lankan Nutmeg and succulent Plum replicates the plushness of cashmere.

Base Notes
Rich and deep scents that emerge before the middle notes departs. Brings depth and solidity to the fragrance.
Just as the mark of an exquisitely crafted suit lies in its structure and silhouette, so the dry down gives the fragrance its tailored core. The richness of Amber, along with the leathery opulence of purified Andalusian Cistus combine to express an unmistakably masculine sophistication. The scent's signature comes in the form of the best Indonesian Patchouli: the signature ingredient of all Gucci perfumes - refined, exotic, conveying the ultimate in luxury.

For as long as I can remember, Dad has always 'bathed' himself in cologne. When I was a little kid and didn't know where Dad was in the house, all I had to do was... Follow the scent. Haha. Mum's one was a little milder, kind of like the top notes. You smelled it first and then, it got covered up by Dad's. The parents left for work really early so each morning, I woke up to a symphony of scents wafting in and out of every room. It was comforting and I felt safe. So for me, fragrances are pretty personal. Heck, I started my own fragrance journey when I was 13 or 14. So yep, it's kind of 'necessary' for my man to be into scents too. Hehhh.

Anyway, since Gucci's Made to Measure paints such a strong image of what a man should look and feel like, I thought I accompany it with a version of my dream date. When I was reading a lot of Sophie Kinsella, my dream date kind of revolved around a fancy dinner (BEEF, please!) with the guy ordering everything that I wanted, without my telling him of course. It ends of with a romantic evening walk under the moonlight with some pink champagne and then, a lift back home in my very own bus (YES, this is a total rip-off from 'Can You Keep A Secret?'. BEST chick lit ever.). Haha!

BUT now that I'm a lot older and wiser (Hopefully.), I guess I just want some good quality time together. The date starts off with us attempting to cook Aglio Olio and make some fanciful French dessert. Of course, we burn every single thing but we still eat them anyway, while watching 'White Chicks'. We then spend the rest of the night trying to act all elegant by attempting to do the Waltz but of course, we give up. So we end up just throwing on some My Chemical Romance/ Simple Plan/ Busted tracks and do air guitar (Okay, I do air guitar. HE actually plays the guitar. Or some other musical instrument. Haha.). And then, the night ends off with him reading me 'Can You Keep A Secret?' or singing to me until I fall asleep (prettily).

Haha. Not a very grand date, a tad cliché and with way too many fails but yeah. As long as we both have fun and enjoy each other's company, I think that's more than good for me. (:

EVENT: Crabtree & Evelyn's 2013 Secret Garden Christmas Collection

Earlier this month, Crabtree & Evelyn held a private preview of their 2013 Secret Garden Christmas Collection. The whole place was transformed into the prettiest English garden, with the most gorgeous flowers. Walls were adorned with shelves of Crabtree & Evelyn products and they have been arranged ever so neatly according to collections.

The Secret Garden Christmas Collection is inspired by the wonder of an undiscovered English winter garden, epitomizing the essence of Crabtree & Evelyn. An array of gifts have been specially curated by the brand for loved ones of all ages and each is housed in limited edition keepsake boxes and bags.

Fans of Crabtree & Evelyn's Hand Therapy will take delight in the sampler sets of 3 and 12 tubes, 25g each. They make lovely gifts for family and friends... And yourself. You know, like place one in the office, one in the bathroom, one at your desk... Or one each in every bag that you own. Hehhh.

Here's Fel, looking as happy as a girl who has just been given candy. Also, she is one of my favourite people in my world, if you didn't know that already. :-D

And because I own so many hand creams, body washes and lotions, the highlights for me were the limited edition Christmas cookies, the gingerbread men especially! These cookies make perfect pairings with Earl Grey tea, Peppermint tea and Green tea, depending on your preference.

Love, Bonito top and Zara shorts.

Brought home 3 tins of Christmas cookies (But, of course!) and Mum immediately called dibs on the tins (But, of course.). Haha. Anyway, it was a really lovely evening spent. Thanks Cindy and Crabtree & Evelyn for the invitation! And thank you for reading! :-D

EVENT: Clinique Christmas Carnival

photos on the right are from Clinique SG.

On the third Saturday of October, Fel and I made a trip down to Estée Lauder's office for Clinique Christmas Carnival. It was held at the prettiest pantry ever and we couldn't stop oh-ing and ah-ing and imagining what it would be like to work there. Ahhh...

Right, anyway. December is a time when many of us decide to hop into a plane and jet off to a place where no worries exist. Except that the climates may wreck havoc on our skin. Eeps. But fear not, because we have Clinique and the brand has very thoughtfully put together gift sets that cater to every climate! And to make things even sweeter, prices have been made friendly to our pockets. :D

Here are some of my picks. :D I really like travel-sized items because I mean, it's not very often that we finished the entire thing. And sometimes, we are just trying things out and may end up not liking them very much. So yay to little sets like the above!

P.S.: Check out the other Clinique gift sets here. (:

FRAGRANCE: Especially Escada Elixir

Especially Escada Elixir is the latest child of the House of Escada. Joining the Especially Escada collection, the Elixir is a powerful interpretation of the original rose-based fragrance. It is built on the classic Eau de Parfum and the playful light-heartedness of the delicate notes from the Eau de Toilette.

The 'intensely happy' fragrance is inspired by the Escada woman who is boldly elegant, radiates confident femininity and joie de vivre, lighting up any room with her smile and energy.

The fragrance, much like the other members of the Especially Escada family, is built around a rose heart but differs in its wondrous intensity of floral freshness.

Top Notes
Light scents that are detected immediately upon application. Forms your first impression.
Notes from the Eastern Rose of Turkey first hits you, draping you with a cloak of mystery. The rose extract is caressed with oriental facets to add depth, colour and density, subtly transforming the light freshness of the pink rose of Especially Escada and the delicate notes of the Eau de Toilette into a scent that is thick with intensity and sensuality.

Middle Notes
Scents that emerge just before the top notes departs. Masks initial unpleasant impression of base notes, which improves with time.
Precious Ecuadorian Ambrette seeds provide a natural chic note to give freshness and depth, pushing the rose accord. A note of musk provides a sense of added luxury, making the fragrance ideal for a romantic rendevous.

Base Notes
Rich and deep scents that emerge before the middle notes departs. Brings depth and solidity to the fragrance.
Natural vanilla extract from Madagascar, amberry notes and a concentrated extract of Patchouli Heart lie at bottom of the fragrance to provide depth. Subtle fruity facets of plum and prune add a touch of richness.

photos from here

Especially Escada Elixir is a little muskier and slightly more seductive than Especially Escada, making it a perfect fragrance for dinner dates and perhaps, a romantic night out? (: When I first received the fragrance, I immediately thought of the above Sisley-inspired number from Love, Bonito. The frills, the deep fuschia, the femininity it exudes... It brings out every aspect of the fragrance. If I had longer hair, I would probably do Michelle Phan's signature romantic curls. Heh.

What would you wear Especially Escada Elixir with? (:
