LOOKBOOK: Because school is a bore.

Hey Muffins!

What a wet Sunday we're having! But I'm actually liking the coldness. Bring on the hoodies, coats, hosiery, boots yada yada yada! :D (In every bleak situation, no matter the degree of bleakness, there is ALWAYS a positive thing about it. I swear.)

Anyway, school has started for me and as usual, it's a bore. BUT my friend, Sya, and I decided to spice things up a little by having a dress-up day every Wednesday (NO ONE, NOT A SINGLE SOUL in my faculty dresses up.)!

Last Wednesday, we had to wear dresses (Okay, I do have a couple of dresses lying DEEP inside my cupboard, but they aren't really my thing. I'm usually in my American Eagles tees and denim Espirit shorts.)!

Click on the photos to get close-ups!

Say 'Hi!' to Sya! :D And also a big hello to one of the many loos in my school!

And yes, I'm usually in spects because when I wear my contacts, my head seems to be ten times bigger. HAHA. I know it's completely irrational but yeah... Haha.

F21's basic white tee
H81's plaid dress
Emilio Cavallini's Lace Knee High Socks

This is a photo of me a couple of years back. Yes, I was in my estate's loo (Gorgeously huge mirror!). And yes, I completely love checkered skirts and knee-length socks!

Topshop's black cropped top
Purple racerback
Espirit denim shorts
ASOS Black Over The Knee Stripe Tights

On Thursday, I woke up to a cold morning so I was like "Hey! I can wear my tights and boots!". But by the time I was done showering, the sun was high up in the sky, mocking at me. I wore my tights anyway, skipping the boots.

One of my friend said I looked like one of the Spice Girls. AHAHAHAHAHA. I hope it's Posh Spice. She was my favourite!

Anyway, I LOVE the tights so so SO much!

And here's another picture! Haha. Okay, yes. Obsessed with tights. Those shoes are usually what I wear if I'm dressing up and am not in boots. Comfort takes priority over fashion. Trust me, I wish I could wear those ridiculously high heels and boots. But the thought of having to endure any sort of discomfort, getting painful and ugly blisters and of me tripping and fracturing any of my body parts (High probability here. I trip even on flat ground.)... Nuh uh!

Alrighty. I now have to go battle monsters in the form of numbers.

Till the next entry,
xoxo.

REVIEW: Schwarzkopf's Gliss Hair Repair Shea Cashmere Shampoo and Conditioner

Edited with Instagram. Click on it to see the original photo.

*screams* I LOVE THESE!!! *jumps up and down*

Whoa, okay. Ummm...Chill! What is 'Schwarzkopf'? I have NEVER heard of it.
Schwarzkopf is a German hair cosmetic brand. According to its website, it is one of the top 3. I came across it when I was searching for a hair mask (Read the review of the Deep Repair 19 hair mask here.). You can find its products in neighborhood toiletries stores, Sasa, Mustafa (Mustafa has a FAR wider range and yes, prices are cheaper!) and very recently, Watsons (Watsons carries only the Gliss line; Total Repair, Color Shine & Protect and Shea Cashmere.).

Which type have you got?
Shea Cashmere (I love the way the word 'cashmere' rolls off my tongue! Cashmere, cashmere, cashmere...). :D

And what type of hair is this meant for?
Dry, drained hair.

What are the key ingredients?
Shea Butter and Cashmere-Protein. These 2 ingredients help keep your hair healthy and supple. "100% suppleness for hair like cashmere"!

So do these products work? Oh right. I forgot about your enthusiasm at the start. Umm... Why do you like it?
Both the shampoo and conditioner deliver their claims! My hair's originally of the rough texture and I was using Sunsilk and Tsubaki before this. Though both brands kept my hair smooth and relatively more tamed, they weighed down my hair. I think it's because it's too 'oily'. My hair became limp.

But these 2 spell a different story. My hair's tamed too but, it is supple!

Supple as in like the SK-II 'bo-ing bo-ing'?
Haha. YES! That's exactly it! There is like a 'spring' to my hair! Life!

Sounds fabulous...
It doesn't 'sound' fabulous! It IS!!!

(There goes the crazy enthusiasm again...) Umm... What prices will I be looking at?
Prices at Sasa and Watsons are around $13 (Watsons is currently having a 20% off.). At Mustafa, if I recall correctly, it's about $13 and they have got Schwarzkopf's other lines as well (Shampoos and conditioners with flavors like smoothie and chocolate!).

Sounds good...
It doesn't 'sound' good! It IS!!!

Okay, thanks and bye.
IT IS GOOD. TRUST ME!!!

UPDATES: My Vanity Area (Part 2)

Hey Muffins!

I'm back with the 2nd installment of my vanity area! Sorry that I'm a tad late. School ends pretty late for me (Seriously, what's with NTU and its afternoon classes?!? You would think that I'm doing a part-time degree. Grrr...).

This is quite possibly the part of my vanity area which I am most proud of.

The letterings were hell to cut because the outlines had gaps and weren't smooth at all. The string was bought from Paper Market. I wanted to make friendship bracelets out of it many moons ago, but well, procrastination totally threw that idea into the bin.

My favourite design out of the 3! These charms are actually Juicy Couture ones! Since I can't afford the real McCoy... Haha!

I was a little stuck for ideas for the last drawer and then, I was like "Why don't I pay homage to Sunbathing Muffins?!?". The initial plan was to outline a muffin with the string but ummm... It seemed like an impossible task in my head so I decided to do polka dots (My previous obsession.). Ribbons were put in because well, I'm into lace, pearls and ribbons now!

Now let's take a peak into the drawers...

CUBBY HOLES!!! :D :D :D I remember very clearly loving cubby holes in kindergarten. They were like little homes for our school bags! *squeals* Okay, ignore me. But I do love cubby holes. Really. Haha.

This was an idea from our previous carpenter. He did it for Mum's accessories in our previous apartment. Mum loves it and so she had these cubby holes done for the 3 ladies in the house! (:

This is a rough layout of my cubby holes. Notice that Urban Decay, M.A.C. and NARS have their own cubbies? Hehe. XD

Close-ups! Do you spot toilet rolls? Haha! I use them to house my eyeliners so that my eyeliners won't be lying flat on the floors of the cubby holes. It's really annoying to get them out when that happens.

The upper tier contains my accessories. Most of them are from Accessorize, my to-go shop for accessories!

There are more cubby holes at the back (The top tier can be moved.). That's where I keep new items and some samples.

In the second drawer, I keep my palettes, new makeup items (They are in the Converse shoebox.) and umm... Yes, my MacDonald's miniatures and Singapore Airlines Barbie Doll. Haha. I wanted to decorate my vanity area with the former but well, there isn't really much space left.

The Singapore Girl was a gift from my Dad when I was in primary school. It's the only Barbie doll which I didn't rip out from her box the moment I got it. It was just too special. (: Dad travels a lot.

The last drawer has my Babyliss curlers, new haircare and skincare products and samples. Yes, I can open up my own store. Need hairspray? Not a problem! Body scrub? Got that! Sunscreen? Yep, that too. Haha. Mum got a shock when she saw this drawer. But I daresay that you guys have more stuff than me, no? XD

Alrighty. Here ends the little 'tour' of my vanity area! Thanks for reading! (:

UPDATES: My Vanity Area (Part 1)

Warning: Rambling ahead and picture heavy.

(Cue: In a very shrill voice.) I'm sooo excited to do this post! *jumps up and down* I didn't post much last week because I was busy decorating my vanity area (I am so so sorry!)! As some of you might know, I shifted house at the end of October last year. It was in the midst of my school term so I didn't have time to do decorations of any sort.

From my Style Book entries, you might have guessed that my room's very bare and you are right! Mum had massive cupboards built in my room so I basically just chucked everything inside. I like it bare so that I have less cleaning to do. (:

Can you believe that Mum had these 3 cupboards made for my clothes?!? I was like "Ummm Mum... I haven't got that many pieces...". That may change though, what with all my ASOS and F21 buys. :\

Anyway, I converted the leftmost cupboard into my vanity area!!!

So let's open it up! (Cue: Drum rolls.)

TADAHHH!!! *beams*

I got the 'curtain' idea from here. Instead of using stickers (Because I am way broke from all the sprees.), I used black and gold construction papers. The 'strings' are dental floss.

The top is where I keep the makeup that I'm currently using, makeup that I want to finish using (All my EDM samples!), perfumes, brushes etc..

On the left panel, I stuck old makeup ads printed from the internet. Somehow, I find them more sincere than current ads. Current ones just scream "I WANT YOUR MONEY!" and the old ones are more "I really want to help you to be beautiful!". Okay, I think it's just me. Heh.

Wooden pegs are stuck on the panel too, so I can clip beauty tips and cards and hang my bracelets on them.

I got the vintage lamp from a cart in Parkway, opposite Borders. When I first saw it, I was like 'OMG!!! MY VANITY AREA NEEDS THAT!!!". I paid $53 for it. The handle's made of porcelain and the lamp works! It's just that I haven't got a plug in my cupboard and I want it in my cupboard so it isn't going to light up forever. Haha. The bulb's the normal bulb (Not the energy-saving one.) and it comes with a dimmer.

Just in case you're interested, there is a very big store in Simei's Eastpoint which sells furniture like this (Cupboards, mailboxes, beds, small drawers, mirrors, tables etc..). Prices are ceiling-high though (Lamps like this cost $60 over there but I'm pretty sure you can do a little negotiation.).

This is a Paul & Joe brush holder which Mum bought for me 2 Christmases ago. I'm going to buy those little bubbles so that my brushes can stand and not all fall to one side.

This London box was bought from Takashimaya. There's some discount going on. I think Mum got it for around 50 bucks.

So here's where I keep all my perfumes; Stella McCartney's, DKNY's, Guess' and Issey Miyake's. I have been using Stella McCartney scents for 2 years now. I usually find a scent and then, stick to it. Some of my friends know that I'm present before they actually see me when they smell my perfume. My parents got me the DKNY Be Delicious one for Christmas and gawd! I LOVE IT! I have been using it every SINGLE day since I opened it.

Mum bought the small brown cupboard from Bangkok. Inside holds my lip products. I placed my empty Anna Sui boxes on it. Behind them is a vintage receipt holder. Sis bought it for me from Laine's Papeterie for $50. I filled it with vintage-patterned paper (From Laine's Papeterie as well.), my Starbucks 'Be' cards, poker cards, clothes tags etc..

The Eeyore photo frame was from the very old Disney store at Takashimaya. I used to badger my parents to bring me to Takashimaya just so that I could visit that store and play with the musical boxes in there and look at all the princess dresses. (:

Black and green snowflakes and cards adorn the right panel. I took FOREVER to cut out the snowflakes (Template's from the internet. Yes, the internet is my lifeline.)! The cards are from a cart in Jurong Point, I think (Sis gave them to me.).

This is a Royce Chocolate box. As aforementioned, I'm trying to use up my EDM samples which I bought a year ago. The lid contains makeup that I use everyday.

And I'll do the bottom drawers another day. Now it's time for an episode of 'The Office' (This sitcom is awesome!!! Go watch it if you haven't already! The American version! :D ) and then, bed. :D

Have a fab Sunday tomorrow, Muffins! (:

WWW: Stylemyself

I'm not sure about you but boy! Do I love shopping!!! (Okay, I'm betting that you do too!) But as the cliché goes, 'Too many things to do, so little time.'. Well, in this case, it's 'too many shops'. Heh.

And to traipse under the increasingly erratic weather, deal with the crazily crowded public transport, which have you breathing in everyone else's carbon dioxide... And then, to end up with a shopping trip that yields NO LOOT!!! Nuh uh. It totally kills shopping! *shudders* (It is very good for your pocket though...) Isn't it better to be able to 'shop' in the comforts of your own home? Think: Air-con blasting, hugging your bolster (Okay, maybe this is just me.), hot chocolate by your laptop... Ahhh! Sweet!

But then what? We spend hours trawling on ONE website and then, move on to another? Whatever is gonna happen to our truckload of work? Isn't there like an online shopping centre? You know, like we can 'walk past the shops, look at what's on display and if we like it, we walk in'?

Well, fab news for us! There is! And here's introducing *drum rolls*...

Stylemyself is described as an 'one-stop fashion e-catalogue'. Bascially, it's an online shopping mall, CATEGORIZED.

The shops are organized according to the types of products they provide. Looking for a white tee? Just go to 'Clothing', 'Basic Tops'. This cuts down our time shopping, we don't get distracted by things which we weren't thinking about in the first place (But if you want to be distracted, by all means. :D ) Many a times, I find myself buying everything under the sun EXCEPT for the one thing that I set out to buy initially.

The best thing to note about Stylemyself? It shows you all the latest collections! You're definitely going to be keeping up with the latest trends (Leopard prints are 'in' now, no?)!

Also, Stylemyself like many others have jumped on the bandwagon, creating their own Facebook page AND iPhone application!

And is the iPhone application useful! Just like the website, it shows you all the latest products, which stores to get them from and where the stores are located at. There is also an additional feature; You can mark your favourite products and when you are near them, you will be notified!!! How cool is that?!?

And here's presenting some of my picks!

I know it's all black! But I'm currently into black now (Yes, a pathetic retort in self-defence...)! I'm totally loving those boots!

Do note that Stylemyself is an online mall, so it doesn't just have female clothings! There are stuff for the men and kids!!! So rope in your other half, brother and son too!

And maybe they will sponsor your loot. XD

(Psst! There is also a beauty section! Awesome much? :D )

The picture beside the Facebook one is an iPhone. Just in case you can't tell what it is. Heh!

Inspiration for doodles is from google.

REVIEW: Kao's Liese Juicy Shower Moisturizing Hair Mist

First up, hair history.
My hair's of the rough texture, with slight waves. Frizzy, definitely! I have rebonded it countless of times since I was 13. The last time was last February. There's a kink where the new hair and the old (rebonded) hair 'join' up together. I'm currently using Schwarzkopf's shampoo and conditioner. Before Schwarzkopf, it was Sunsilk.

Of all the haircare products, why did you pick this?
Because it's PINK! Haha. No, just kidding. I'm not a really pink person. It's because the Japanese girls have awesome hair! And Kao's a pretty reputable brand. Besides, it's supposed to smell like raspberries! I love raspberry-flavoured sweets! (Not the real things because they are so soft. Lack the kick. *nods seriously*)

So does it smell like raspberries?
Yeah it does! But it's also a little TOO sweet for my liking. :\

But how is it as a haircare product? Does it 'quench hair's dryness and smoothen frizziness anytime, anywhere'?
For that half hour after spraying, yes. But after that, the frizz comes back. ): My hair does feel soft for a pretty long time though. This is exactly what it is described to be; A fuss-free quick fix to the hair. I don't carry it out with me when I go out. Mine's the 200ml one so it's rather bulky. Watsons does sell the smaller version sometimes.

Still, will you purchase it again?
Nuh uh. I have moved on to Schwarzkopf.

REVIEW: Burt's Bees' Replenishing Lip Balm

Lip balms, lip balms... Do we really need these?
Well, I don't know about you but I sure do need them. Haha. Especially when I burn midnight oil, my lips go dry and it's really obvious at the corners because I get an 'extended' mouth. Haha. Yeah, I do look funny.

What do you look for in a lip balm?
The lip balm has to go on to my lips thin. I can't stand it if I feel like there's a thick layer of lard on my lips! And it HAS to have no smell or a pleasant one. Afterall, it's going to be on my lips! :\

How do you know about Burt's Bees?
I read about it in an article. A local celeb (I can't remember who.) apparently uses this for her lips AND spots!

So does it work on spots?
Umm... I haven't tried that yet.

Okay, back to the lip balm itself. How is it?
The lip balm goes on thin. *thumbs up*

And the smell?!? *sniff sniff*
It has a light smell, probably that of the pomegranate oil. I won't exactly say it's a very nice smell. It's pleasant. I took quite a while to get used to it actually.

The lip balm's red! Are my lips going to be engine red?
No! Haha. The colour goes on really sheer! There's a slight tint which just makes your lips healthy looking! (:

Where do I get this from?
Sephora sells it for $8. You can order it online here for $6. (:

Now it's my turn to ask a question! What's your favourite lip balm?!? (:

LOOKBOOK: Leopard and its spots are always in.

prettylittleliarss@tumblr

In a bid to channel Aria Montgomery, I bought a top ($35) and a skirt ($15) which spotted leopard prints from F21 earlier this week. On Thursday, I saw a cardigan($35) and dearly wanted to get it but it had some flimsy collar thing going on in front and looked weird. But okay, now I'm thinking about it... Crrrappp.

Please excuse my very messy desk and chair.

To get my hair in a bun, I had used something like the Goody Simple Styles Collection's Spin Pins. The 'real' spin pins aren't available in Singapore but you can find similar ones in accessories shops. They come in a packet of two, for the price of a dollar. I think the 'real' ones are much longer. In this video, you only need 2 of these to secure your bun. I had used 4.

And yes, my bun was kept up all night.

And nope, it didn't feel loose at all. (:

EOTD: (Failed) Vintage Pinup Girl Look

Currently, I'm a little obsessed with the vintage pinup girl look. Think: Dita Von Teese and well, Dita Von Teese! Haha. Maybe a little of Evan Rachel Wood (She is AMAZING as Queen Sophie-Anne, no matter what the critics say! *sticks tongue out*).

Before I show you the remnants of my attempt (I cleaned my foundation off almost immediately. Yes, disastrous indeed.), let me link up these 2 makeup videos which I found last night. And have watched just like... A gazillion times.

And now for my failed attempt. As aforementioned, I had cleaned off the foundation. Hence, the spots on my face. No thanks to examinations. Grrr...

Not that you can see it but the eyeshadows were from Urban Decay's Ammo Palette and the liquid eyeliner was K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner (Super Black). Mascara's of course my favourite CoverGirl's LashBlast Fusion. I filled in my eyebrows too but umm... I need more arch. My eyebrows are rather straight to balance up my long face. Lips were coloured with the lip pencil from Lancôme's Absolu Voyage.

Alrighty. Have an awesome weekend, Muffins! (:

REVIEW: Neutrogena's Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask

What is this?
A hair mask! So that you can get those celeb-swish-swish hair! Haha. Okay, it's going to make your hair soft and lustrous! (:

So... Which type of hair is this for?
It is for extra dry and over-processed hair.

What are the key ingredients?
Olive: Which penetrates to the centre
Meadowfoam Seed: Which helps moisturize the middle
Sweet Almond: Which wraps the surface

It smells...?
A little medicinal but it's the pleasant sort!

And what's your take on it?
Ahhh... I think it's only okay. Nothing that wows me or anything like that. It keeps my hair soft, but that's something that I can from other hair masks as well. Schwarzkopf's Gliss Hair Repair (Deep Repair 19) is much better, to me. And the fact that the latter is available in Singapore (Check out Sasa or Watsons! (: ) is also a plus point. Yes, the Neutrogena one isn't available on our sunny island.

Not available? Then... How did you get your hands on it? I still want to try it...
Sprees! (: Michelle is holding a drugstore.com spree right this minute! :D

HAUL SERIES PART IV: The Cheeks

Other than being crazily obsessed with lashes, I'm also into blushers! And I'm sure I'm not the only one. *raises eyebrows* Haha. Some ladies are into lipsticks, some are into highlighters... But when it comes to blushers, I think it's a universal thing, no? Haha.

clockwise from top: Shiseido Integrate Gracy Blusher in 300, NARS Gina, NARS Gilda, NARS Amour, Too Faced's Brightening Blush in Papa Don't Preach, Benefit's Face Powder in Georgia, Bourjois' ASOS Exclusive Limited Edition Vintage Blusher - Peach Glow, NYX's Powder Blush in Peach (PB06), NYX's Mosaic Powder Blush in Peachy (MPB04)

Here are the blushers which I amassed during my school semester! And I actually have 3 more drugstore ones to collect from Fatin! Heh.

The Shiseido Integrate Gracy Blusher was given to me by Mich. She got it from Japan for about S$10. I'm not really following the Japanese/ Korean makeup scene but Mich told me that this line is for more mature women. But it doesn't really matter to me. I mean, as long as the colour looks fab on me, I don't really care if it's for 90-year-olds or whatever. And this is such a lovely peach colour! Thanks Mich!!! LOVE!

From the above stash, I'm certain you can tell that I'm currently into peach blushers now! There is much comparison between NARS Gina and Gilda. Gina's a true peach alright, but Gilda looks like a coral to me. This website has a really detailed entry on these 2 shades. I got Amour because Roseanne mentioned it. It's a pretty old entry but somehow it got stuck in my head. (:

Too Faced's Brightening Blush in Papa Don't Preach is my favourite out of the lot! I found it when I was a temp at Sephora. I was really wowed the first time I applied it. It wasn't anything like the other blushers I owned back then. So it had always been on my wishlist.

The NYX blushers were a bit of a disappointment. The powder blush looks completely pink in the pan. I haven't swatched it though so it may be a different story when I do so. I have used the mosaic one but nothing amazing there.

Swatches will be up another time. (:

Have a fab Wednesday, Muffins!
