INTERVIEW: Let's talk whitening with Mr. Taro Yamaguchi! (Part I)

Happy Monday, ladies! :DDD

I attended SK-II's 'A New Paradigm in Skincare: High Definition Skin' Event back in February and wrote about it here. At the event, I was fortunate to be able to attend a presentation by Mr. Taro Yamaguchi. And I was even more fortunate when I was given a chance to interview him! :D

I have divided the interview into 2 parts because it is pretty long so check back tomorrow for part 2! I hope this will answer some of your enquiries about whitening and will be helpful to you!
-

1. Hi, Mr. Yamaguchi! You have been in the industry for many years. Why do you think Asian ladies are always looking to be fairer, when their Western counterparts like to be tanned?

The importance of having fair, spotless skin resonates particularly amongst Asian women as skin tone used to be a representation of social standing. People who had to work outdoors had darker skin as a result of long hours of exposure to the sun. Meanwhile, others who held ‘indoor jobs' were generally less exposed to the sun, and thus had fairer skin. In modern society, quality of skin condition, in which fairness or spotless clarity is one of the measures, could thus also be an indication of the individual being in a (good) state beyond just beauty.

On the contrary, in western countries, tanned skin is a sign of disposable income and time, so women are able to afford beach vacations especially during winter. Apart from this, they also have the luxury of taking time off work to develop a tan.

2. What are some of the toughest issues that hinder Asian ladies from their dreams of being Snow White?

Many women tend to disregard the importance of including a sunblock in their daily skincare regimen. It is important that as long as you’re exposed to sunlight (especially in a sunny climate like Singapore), this includes sitting in the office by the window, that your skin is protected with a sufficient amount of SPF.

3. What are the basic ways in which ladies can do to prevent and tackle them?

Sunblock is a must in a daily skincare regimen. Spots or freckles can appear at random as diverse environmental stimuli cause uneven stress on skin, and it is often difficult to predict which ones will become stubborn spots and where future problem areas may arise. This is why we stress that UV protection is extremely important in your daily skin care routine as it protects your skin from the damages of the sun. Besides using sun-protection, it is essential to incorporate a beauty serum that helps to achieve not only spotless skin, but also that radiant glow like the Cellumination Essence Ex.

Beyond that, there are plenty of good habits that should be picked up and implemented daily to further improve your skin. Watching your diet plays an important role in the condition of your skin. Consuming healthier foods guarantees sufficient intake of vitamins and minerals in your body and skin.

Drinking plenty of water daily is always an essential as water will help rehydrate your system and skin. Do drink a glass of water before heading to bed too as it keeps your skin hydrated and flushes out harmful toxin in your system.

The health of your skin can also be affected by your exercise habits. Lack of exercise will likely to result in poor blood circulation which prevents sufficient oxygen to be channeled to the skin.

Apart from that, not getting the right amount of sleep can be detrimental to your skin. The lack of sleep results in the appearance of superficial symptoms such as dark eye circles and breakouts. While we sleep, skin undergoes a cell regeneration process where old cells are replaced with new ones. The lack of sufficient sleep then, impedes the efficiency of this process, leaving behind dark eye circles and puffy eye bags. With inadequate rest, skin also becomes dull and sallow.

Always remember to find time to pamper your skin. A demanding work schedule can take a toll on your skin. As such, plan ahead to ensure that your skin receives the much-needed pampering experience. If you simply cannot find the time to indulge your skin on for a facial, I’d recommend the Cellumination Mask-in Lotion which delivers a mask-like experience on top of its skin conditioning function, providing intensive moisturisation while boosting skin’s inner glow. This unique everyday lotion works almost like a day and night ‘mask’ for your skin, by delivering mask-like hydration and whitening benefits – both immediate and long-lasting. Within 15 seconds of application, it delivers the same amount of whitening actives as that of using a mask for 15 minutes. It also offers sustained penetration of whitening actives to skin similar to that of a whitening mask.

4. SK-II recently launched their latest whitening innovations, the New Cellumination Essence EX and Whitening Spots Specialist Concentrate in Singapore. What are the specific areas in which these products are targeting at?

The new Cellumination Essence EX presents women with the opportunity to reach a new standard in beauty: highly defined aura skin that is discernible even up-close at 20cm. Designed to act on micro-level unevenness of tone and texture, the SK-II Cellumination Essence EX refines the skin’s countenance from a micro level, and illuminates the skin cell by cell to give users visible aura and crystal clear skin.

SK-II’s new Whitening Spots Specialist Concentrate on the other hand, helps to eliminate the most stubborn of spots by loosening and removing them. The efficacy of Whitening Spots Specialist Concentrate is driven by the new Rich Melano-Discharge complex that loosens and removes the spots.

OUTING: YAY! Exams are over!!!

So... I ended my exams yesterday!!! Yay!!! :DDD And even though my body was begging for sleep, I just HAD to hit Orchard. The boyfriend still has another paper but he accompanied me anyway! Thank you, love! :DDD

The first thing we did was to fill our famished tummies! We headed to 313 Somerset's Food Republic for some scrumptious Teppanyaki! The food was quite salty but very, extremely delicious!!! Mingyang and I shared a set and added plates of mushrooms and omelette for our sides. The whole meal was $25.45, which is pretty alright. Thanks Mum for the recommendation! :DDD

Starbucks was having a 1-for-1 yesterday for their two latest drinks, Straberries & Cream Frappuccino and Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino. The latter was full of chocolatey goodness! The former, however,... Hmm... Well, we threw it into the bin when we were 1/4 into it. :\

Headed to Ngee Ann City in the evening and at Takashimaya's Atrium, there was the 'A Shoes & Bags Affair' event! There were bags, shoes, makeup, perfumes, skincare products... Basically, a girl's heaven! This event is gonna last all the way till May 13th! :D

Makeup brands which I spotted are Elizabth Arden, Paul & Joe and Guerlain. For Guerlain, prices are similar to that of Luxasia sale's. Here's some information (I don't speak Guerlain so please make do with the rough description. :\ Sorry!!!):

Eyeshadow/ Blush palette, $70
Lip gloss, $25
Meteorites pressed powder, $80
Meteorites Pearly White, $58
Bronzer, $25
Makeup Base, $58

Alrighty, I'm off to watch 'Once Upon A Time'! It is soooooooooooo fabulous!!! Nighty nights and have a good weekends!!! :DDD

REVIEW: CandyDoll's Lip Gloss in Cotton Candy

A couple of weeks back, I received a lip gloss from CandyDoll's Spring 2012 Collection. Thanks M.O.S.S for the gift! :D

This Spring, CandyDoll is releasing 2 lip glosses. They are in the shades Juicy Cherry and Cotton Candy and I am the proud owner of the latter. (:

The palm-sized lip gloss comes in the usual lip gloss container, with a slanted brush for easy application. The shade is darker than what I imagine cotton candy to be but aye, it's good news for me! I look completely washed out with light shades (Get the nudes away from me!!! :\).

Cotton Candy is a youthful pink that brings health to my lips with a nice glossy tint! It is slightly sticky but certainly not Stila-Lip-Glaze-sticky! :DDD The lip gloss comes with a hint of a scent but it goes away the minute you try to figure it out.

As for the intensity, I can't quite tell because my lips have a lot of red in them. Basically, it just adds reddish-pink to my lips and after about 3 layers, the colour seems to stay that way, even if I were to pile on more layers.

This will be perfect for those who want to inject health into their lips and who shy away from bright, in-your-face colours. (: It's perfect for your everyday girlish look too! :DDD

Here's how Cotton Candy looks like on me! :D

I received some CandyDoll's base items too! And guess what?!? You get to have them too! :DDD All you need to do is to email marketing@moss.com.sg, with the subject 'Sunbathing-muffins Special'. Do provide your name, mailing address and mobile number and that's it! :DDD

In the meantime, you can check out CandyDoll's Facebook page here to get the latest news!

CandyDoll is exclusively available at major Watsons outlets.

MAIL: April's Bellabox!

I really should be studying my brains out for tomorrow's doom that is my Time Series paper (SAY WHAT?!?) but I was sooo excited to receive my first Bellabox! Here's the pretty hot pink parcel!

Oooh!!! Cards that tell you all about your box!

Un, unwrap, unwrapping!

And TADAHHH!!! :DDD

Here's the list of my items!

There are several subscription boxes that are available in Singapore and with the brands that each is partnering with, we are totally spoilt for choice! For me, I took a pretty long time before jumping on the bandwagon because I'm very fussy about my products. Heh. But Bellabox teamed up with Benefit and Laura Mercier this April so I jumped! Haha. Unfortunately, I got neither of the brands, which is I guess, the main flaw with such subscription boxes - You can't choose your items!

But with that said, I'm excited to discover new brands! Like AHAVA and Dr. Jart! And maybe now that I can try out crackle nail polish on my own nails, I may develop a love for it! :D

Alrighty! Stay safe and I'll be back before you know it!

P.S.: Photos are from my Instagram! :D I'm so hooked! Username's charlenejudith!
P.P.S.: I apologize for the many exclamation marks but I'm THAT excited! Tee hee! :D

REVIEW: Be Discovered for a Brighter, Whiter Smile!

Earlier this month, I received 5 tubes of Darlie's All Shiny White Fluoride Toothpaste! For someone who brushes her teeth at least 3 times a day, these 5 tubes are as delightful as makeup! Heh.

Smiles can turn our upside down world the right side up, even when they are from strangers! However, because of the food and beverages that we take, sometimes our smiles are dulled. This is but a peripheral problem. A more serious problem occurs when our tooth erodes. Tooth erosion affects the entire surface of the tooth and can cause your enamel to thin.

The enamel covers the surface of the tooth crown, helps to absorb pressure from biting and chewing and protects the tooth's inner structure. When the enamel wears down, the sensitive dentine is exposed, leading to an increased in teeth's sensitivity to hot, cold or sweet food and drinks.

And this is the point when Mr. Darlie saves the day!!!

Darlie's All Shiny White Enamel Care Fluoride Toothpaste is formulated to provide both whitening power and enamel protection to strengthen teeth through re-mineralization and restoration of surface smoothness. The 50 million Speed Whitening Agent (SWA) molecules work hard to remove stains effectively. It also contains 45% more enamel strengthening ingredient (Than the regular one.) so be ready for your brighter, whitier and healthier smile in just 14 days!

For me, my enamel has pretty much all been worn down because I grind my teeth when I sleep at night. So I'm really thankful for such a toothpaste, to help salvage whatever enamel that I'm left with. (: I refrain from taking in dark-coloured food and drinks and this toothpaste has helped maintain the whiteness of my teeth. (:

One tip for maintaining a white and healthier smile is to rinse your mouth after every meal!

The other toothpaste which I have used is the Apple Mint one. I don't quite like apples but I like apple-flavoured stuff! They smell/ taste very fresh, but without the acidity that apples sometimes come with. Needless to say, I LOVE THIS!!!

Darlie's All Shiny White Fluoride Toothpaste comes in 5 different types; Apple Mint, Lime Mint, Mineral Salt, Enamel Care and the regular one. They are available at all supermarkets, hypermarkets and medical pharmacies at retail price of $3.15.

This April, do keep a look out for Darlie's All Shiny White's 'Be Discovered' campaign! It is an integrated communications program that will showcase a new and captivating television commercial and out-of-home displays!

Darlie's Angels will also be flitting round the following places from 11am to 3pm to give out 40g Darlie's samples:

21-22 April: FairPrice Xtra AMK, FairPrice Xtra Hougang Pt, FairPrice Woodlands Civic
28-29 April: FairPrice Xtra Nex, FairPrice Bedok A, FairPrice Tiong Bahru Hub

Besides getting the samples, you also stand a chance to win attractive prizes in Darlie's lucky draw! (:

The lucid Darlie commercial explains the workings of the toothpaste in simple terms and is currently running on Channel 5, 8, U and cable telly! (:

Remember to take care of your teeth (You only have 1 set of permanent teeth!) and SMILE! :DDD

The brother asked me why I was so optimistic. I just think that trying isn't going to harm or hurt anyone so why not give it a chance? But now it worries me that I have been way too optimistic and my dreams will always appear only in the nights.

REVIEW: Belif's The True Cream - Moisturizing Bomb

Happy Monday, ladies! I hope your blues are gone by now because Monday's ending and it's only 4 more days till TGIF! :DDD Today, I will be reviewing quite possibly my favourite-st product EVER! In Meredith's words, this is a product that is 'Woah, just woah.'.

Not too long ago, I blogged about my first haul from Belif and gawd! My love for this brand has gone way beyond the depths of the deepest ocean (And here, my cousin will say that he smells cheese. Though he would say that in a different context. But anyway...)! I'm in love with the brand's story, philosophy, the fact that no synthetic preservatives, dyes, fragrances, mineral oil and ingredients of animal origins are used in the products and of course, the products which I have used and are currently using!

I introduced the brand in my earlier entry and if you would like to know how I discovered the brand in the sea of so many brands (Thank you, Chantana! I shall thank you in ALL my entries about Belif!!!), you can read it here. :DDD

And before I bore you any further with my declarations of undying love...

Though I bought the full-sized The True Cream - Aqua Bomb, it was the travel-sized The True Cream - Moisturizing Bomb which I decided to experiment with first. If you had followed me on Twitter, you would have been bombarded with my tweets, or rather wailing, about having the driest skin ever. And then, the nightmare of all nightmares, breakouts. I probably used a gazillion products before my skin resembled a fraction of what it used to be.

Before I started using The True Cream - Moisturizing Bomb, my skin on my inner cheeks and on the sides of my nose's bridge was dry and slightly flaky. I was also breaking out on my inner cheeks. And my skin definitely felt tight after each wash. So I decided that the richer cream would be better for me (The Aqua Bomb is for oily/ combination skin and the Moisturizing Bomb is for dry skin.).

The True Cream - Moisturizing Bomb contains Comfrey Leaf, which is a powerful hydrating agent. The cream is said to provide 26 hours worth of hydration. 'The soft and pure white cream literally wraps the skin with comfort, supplying moisture without dryness and tightness for hours.'

It is formulated with Napiers' original and moisture formulae. The former helps to help skin healthy and delay signs of ageing. The latter ensures that the skin is hydrated and at the same time, regulates oil production. (Napiers is one of UK's leading complementary and health care providers and has a history that started 151 years ago! You can read more about Napiers here.)

The opaque white cream comes out thick and skin that is oily will eschew it. But my dry skin lapped it up like it was pureed gold. It feels a little greasy initially but it is absorbed into the skin fairly quickly.

You just need slightly less than a 10-cent coin amount and you can cover your entire face. (:

After a couple of days of using the Moisturizing Bomb, save for my chin, there wasn't a single inch of my face that was dry! No flaking and my foundation went on oh-so-smoothly! My chin took a while longer but it's completely cured from the dry spell now! AND my skin no longer feels tight after a wash!!! This hasn't happened since before puberty began! Can you say 'HOLA!'?!?

And there was one thing which I did not expect to happen... My skin actually looked clearer!!! :DDD I swear I wanted to skip instead of walk everyday but there is a need for a decent level of decorum to be maintained so... (The BA that helped me mentioned that this will help with outbreaks but it isn't written on the container so I kinda forgot about it. The Aqua Bomb doesn't help with breakouts but with sebum control.)

I would really recommend this to everyone! Actually, I'm already doing that on Twitter (Follow me here!)! Hehe! :DDD I really, really, REALLY think that this brand, and especially this product, are worth checking out!

Oh yes. I started using the Aqua Bomb but I don't really like it. ): Somehow, it doesn't gives the kind of oomph! that the Moisturizing Bomb so generously gives. So even though my skin is usually of the combination type, I will still buy the Moisturizing Bomb. :DDD

I think practically all my sentences ended with exclamation marks and it seems like I'm Happiness itself. Haha! It's just that I'm so, extremely excited about Belif (The Moisturizing Bomb, especially!) and I want to share it with you (I hope it's evident!). Haha. Anyway, this has been quite an essay and I'm really sorry about that. No, not really! Moisturizing Bomb kicks ass! Hehe!

I'm off to bury my head in books now! Do check out Belif and let me know if you have hauled! :DDD

LOOKBOOK: Fashion at Cineleisure!

For the third and final challenge of Cineleisure's Next Online Sensation, Fel and I were tasked to create a fashion-related video, featuring a minimum of 3 outfits! And TADAHHH!!! The above video is what we came up with! (:

Cineleisure has a myriad of shops, chock-full with clothes, shoes and accessories! And you can literally find them everywhere; the moment you step into the mall, when you reach a new level, a few steps away from the restaurant you're eating at... Literally everywhere!

For me, Cineleisure differs from your typical mall because the shops aren't the common ones. You can get clothes which you won't be seeing on someone else. Like sometimes, when I'm walking on the streets, I go "OH! That top is from ZARA!", "I definitely saw that in F21!" or ummm on a slightly more 'embarrassing' level, "HMMM. That girl and I are wearing the same printed blouse!".

The third floor probably holds the most treasures and it is on this level that Fel and I picked outfits for each other! We decided to adopt each other's style! :DDD

The Editor's Market is a store that prides itself on being fashion-forward and brings in clothes and accessories that are unique and worlds apart from the cookie-cutter stuff that we see on the streets. The store is also known for their step pricing system; the more you buy, the less you pay! So gather your friends together and shop to your heart's content!

THE EDITOR'S MARKET
#03-04/06A

I love, love, LOVE the preppy look and gosh! Black and white! A classic and classy combination (Think: Alexa Chung.). Black also creates a 'slimming down' effect. Collars immediately smarten up any clothing, making this a perfect number for work and dinners. And this collar takes on a twist by having some 'teeth' details.

And here's a close-up of the collars and some shots of me 'modelling' (I think you have seen more of me in photos for this competition than any other entries! Ever.)!

I didn't like pastels and yes, I didn't like Precious Moments. Pastels just seemed to make everything look completely washed-out. It's like you didn't edit the contrast of your photos or there's like a blurry film in front of your camera when you are taking photos. So I wasn't too thrilled when Fel picked the top out for me but because I am crazy over Peter Pan collars (And this has little crochet-like details on it!), I decided to give it a try. And Fel paired it with a very pretty gold dirndl skirt.

AND GOSH!!! Fel may have totally 'revoluntionized' me because I'm IN LOVE with pastels now (But I still don't like Precious Moments. I think.)! HAHAHA! I actually like how pastel look on my skin and this outfit is completely to die for! The matching, the style... It's like Alice in Wonderland and all I'm missing is a headband with a ribbon! Tee hee!

But the top was slightly too big for me, so it kinda ballooned out when it was tucked into the skirt. A good shirt/ blouse shouldn't do that.

Beck Berry is THE store to go to for all things vintage! Not only do they have clothes that are in the style of the '40s, they are also flooded with ornaments and stationary that mimic earlier generations. It's a real funky store in a burst of bright, cheery colours! Fel and I loved the store to bits!

BECKY BERRY
#03-02

I forgot to take a shot of the polke-dotted dress I wore in the video but this is the other dress that I bought! I usually avoid dresses that show my arms because they aren't slender (Pretty muscular actually. I totally get why guys who gym have big arms. You just want to keep increasing the weights you carry! I started out with 0.5kg, 2.0kg, 2.5kg and now I use those pushing out machines with 7/ 8kg.). Cap sleeves and no sleeves are not flattering on me at all. SIGH.

Anyway, this dress caught my eye because... You got it! It's pastel blue! Hahaha! And the prints on the top are pastel too! And this dress comes with the ever-girlish and classy pleats! It's makes me feel like I'm on yacht when I wore this! Very feminine and light, it's a perfect weekend dress!

For the clothes that I picked for Felicia, head on over to her blog here!

Before I end, here's a photo of Fel and I and our outfits for the day! (:

And we have finally come to the end of the 3 challenges set out for us for the Cineleisure's Next Online Sensation competition! It has been a pretty challenging and tiring period but this competition has taught me that blogging is TWICE the fun when you do it with a friend! :DDD

Thank you, dear Fel, for the 3 lovely Mondays spent (And I'm sure more will come when the hols roll in! HOLA!)! And oh yes! I need to mention that Fel totally taught me how to model and take nicer photos of myself. So perhaps, you will see more of me on the blog (My friends say that they hardly see my face in my posts.).

Anyway, voting has begun and I would appreciate it a lot if you could vote for 'Fel & Char' here! You will need to sign into Facebook at the top of the page.

Thanks for reading (And watching! And voting!)! (:

LOOKBOOK: I spilled my heart onto my skirt.

This was what I wore for the Laneíge Love in Bloom Alluring Beauty Makeover.

The Kory Knit Top is from Love, Bonito and it's the mustard version of the top I wore here. It's unbelievably comfortable and I wish so much that I could sleep in it (Which is possible, technically.).

The skirt is from ASOS.com and it's one of my favourite! Though I don't wear it out too much because it's so recognizable (Think: "Didn't you wear this last week or the week before?").

(Again, please excuse the dirty mirror.)

The school term's drawing to an end, which spells a busy April for me. But I can't wait for the hols to roll in (Though it wouldn't be much of a hol, for me.) so that all the fab movies will start showing and I can watch one after another! Ahhh!!!

REVIEW: K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyepencil (Super Black)

In early March, I received a pretty hot pink box from K-Palette. I was extremely excited to find that I was given the K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyepencil (Super Black) and rambled on like a old grandmama about my eyeliner history. Haha.

Do read the entry here for more information about the eyeliner, as well as my initial thoughts about it! And oh! I also introduced the Zero Kuma Cover Control Concealer. (:

Here's the eyeliner in all its black glory! One thing that you need to remember is that you need to twist the cap to get it off. Otherwise, it's a 'very clean' pencil eyeliner. No sharpening, no shavings, completely mess-free!!! :D

But as aforementioned in the earlier entry, this also means that you can't get the tip to be very sharp. For me, it wasn't much of a problem. I usually smoke out my pencil eyeliner. I draw a rough line, it doesn't have to be (And it certainly isn't, for me.) neat. After that, I use a thin brush and just smoke it out. :D

Here's a photo of my left eye all done up! I tightlined and did my waterline too (Is there a 'word' for drawing on your waterline? Like you say 'I tightline my eyes'. But you don't go 'I waterline my eyes.'. Hmmm...).

And oh yes! I need to mention how I do my waterline. Haha. Immediately after drawing on my tightline, I squeeze my eyes really, really hard! And TADAHHH! My waterline is done and the line is as precise as it can possibly get! Haha. I do touch it up a little, where bits of the eyeliner aren't transferred properly.

And here's a photo of my right eye at the end of the day (I took a photo of the wrong eye by mistake. :\)!

Some of the eyeliner has got onto my lower lid and I guess, with pencil eyeliners, panda eyes are inevitable. ): But the eyeliner is pretty much still on my tightline (Almost the entire thing.) and waterline (Slightly less than 3/4?). (:

I didn't use any of the tricks to make the eyeliner stay longer on my tightline and waterline for review purposes (And also, because I am usually in a rush and need to save up on as many makeup steps as possible. Haha!). But here are tips for you to help make your eyeliner stay longer (On the tightline, waterline and even on lids!):

1. Dry your tightline and waterline using a cotton bud first.
2. After drawing, powder the pencil eyeliner with a little black (Or whatever shade you are using.) eyeshadow.

I hope this was helpful. (: Thanks for reading! (:

EVENT: SK-II's 'My First Compliments' with Sheila Sim

March 29, 2012 saw the revealing of SK-II's newest Global Brand Ambassador, Sheila Sim. Sheila is the first from Singapore to be added to the SK-II's family, joining the ranks of A-listers, such as Cate Blanchett, Qi Qi and Tang Wei.

"The collaboration with supermodel Sheila Sim makes perfect sense because we feel that she embodies a modern interpretation of beauty that's very au courant yet authentic. We are confident that she will bring the message of crystal clarity to a new generation of women through her inspiring stories of transformation – both in skin and life."

- Samuel Kim, Vice-President, ASEAN & Asia Development Markets, Procter & Gamble Asia (On SK-II's choice of its latest ambassador.)

The host for the day was the elegant Stephanie Carrington. Together with the gorgeous Sheila, a lovely afternoon was spent on Sheila's discovery of SK-II, the unexpectedly quick results and the subsequent slew of compliments from her family, friends and colleagues.

The 1.74 beauty started using SK-II long before she was made an ambassador and she credited her crystal clear and 'tofu' skin to her trusty ol' Facial Treatment Essence. The FTE, as Sheila called it, contains 90% Pitera, which is a natural bio-ingredient. It combines over 50 types of skin nutrients to activate skin cell renewal. The FTE has been proven to shift the skin's 5 dimensions - texture, radiance, firmness, spot control and winkle resilience - to help achieve skin that is smooth, bouncy and most importantly, crystal clear.

"One of the first compliments I received after using SK-II was that my skin's texture became more refined, firmer and smoother and there was an overall improvement in the condition of my skin, something I had never experienced before with any other skincare brands. My friends complimented me on my skin's glowing radiance and when even my makeup artist and close friend, Clarence Lee, praised me for my healthy skin, I knew that SK-II had really transformed my skin – inside out."

- Sheila Sim, Supermodel and SK-II's Global Brand Ambassador (On her first compliments received after using SK-II.)

"What I like about Sheila is that she gives personality to the dress, and brings it to life. I can just throw her in anything and she will still look good in it."

- Keith Png, Fashion Designer of KOOPS and Owner of Hide & Seek

"Despite being a celebrity model Sheila is still very polite and well-mannered. She is very respectful towards others and her sunshine personality brightens up the room. On set, Sheila is very versatile and can take on any look. Off set, she comes across as very genuine and sincere, and that is what people in the industry likes about her."

- Clarence Lee, Celebrity Make-up Artist and Owner of Hide & Seek

"Sheila is very real to herself and even though she holds a high profile in the fashion industry now, she still has no airs or qualms. Instead, she is very down-to-earth and honest. Her personality is like her dress sense - she is very colourful."

- Jeremy Tan, Festival Producer of Audi Fashion Festival 2009-2012

Here are Sheila's top 8 tips on skincare, fashion and lifestyle in brief:

Skincare
1. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize.
2. Remove your makeup properly after a long day at work.
3. Indulge your skin if you're a frequent jet-setter.

Fashion
4. Looking good isn't about money. It's about style, and style never goes out of fashion.
5. Experiment with different looks.
6. Get to know your body shape and learn what cuts and colours suit your body shape.

Lifestyle

The event was a small, intimate affair held at the Central Atrium of Centrepoint. I had a wonderful time learning more about Sheila's journey with SK-II. She had completely no airs and was very humble. Actually, for me, getting a chance to see Sheila in person was a fabulous thing itself! (:

And now, to end the night with Sheila's TVC. (:

SPOTTED: Rachel K Cosmetics in Hot Pink!

Last Friday night *starts singing the Katy Perry song*, I decided to pop by Watsons when I was in Bugis and immediately spotted something hot pink! Okay, before this, the only thing that's visibly hot pink the moment you step into Watsons is the Skin79 display. I'm not exactly a hot pink girl, though I do like ballet pink and before I digress any further about which shade of ballet pink that I like...

TADAHHH!!! Rachel K Cosmetics's Mineral Color Control (CC) Belmish Balm in new clothes!!! I'm not sure if the formula has been changed, but the CC cream now comes in a smaller (1.41 fl.oz. vs. 1.70 fl.oz.) and cheaper ($29.90 vs. $35) tube.

There were 3 shades available previously; the original one, Neutral and Sunkissed. But I only spotted the original one in black and the Neutral one in hot pink.

I really appreciate the smaller and cheaper tubes because it means that you can actually finish the products! I don't know about you but I haven't hit pan in ANYTHING and haven't got to the base of any tubes/ bottles (Where makeup is concerned.). And I often have to throw them out before finishing them. :\ (Which reminds me that I really need to STOP buying makeup. I didn't use to be a foundie junkie but now, I have two little cubby-holes of face products. Sheesh!)

There doesn't seem to be a change in packaging for the Mineral Color Control (CC) Pressed Powder. I thought it would be good if the container were made thinner...

And on a different topic, spot me in Watsons!!! :DDD Thanks Ariel! (:
