REVIEW: Vichy's Essentielles Skincare Range

Last month (Doesn't time fly... *faints*), I was provided with the Vichy Essentielles Skincare range for review. As aforementioned, this goes way back to the basics. The range ensures that our skin's daily needs are completely taken care off, without targeting any particular skin problem.

Here are the ingredients which make up the core of this skincare range:

Rose Gallica/ French Rose: Besides having soothing, protecting and hydrating properties, it helps skin to reveal its glow. The French Rose also contains proteins called Polyphenols, which help to protect against external aggressions.

Glycerin: This helps to retain moisture and is used in most moisturizers.

Shea Butter (present in Facial Cream, Facial Emulsion and Body Cream-Milk): Its oil soothes and protects against external aggressions, with its nourishing and emollient properties.

Vichy Thermal Spa Water: This water is used in all Vichy's products. It helps to soothe and fortify the skin.

Essentielles Softening Shower, 200ml ($12.90)
This shower gel contains Polyphenols and is hypoallergenic and paraben-free and gawd! Does it smell HEAVENLY! It's like rose syrup! I feel exactly like a princess using this. Heh. It doesn't help that the bottle's pretty in pink!

The gel lathers well and you really only need a small amount. It leaves my skin feeling soft and nicely moisturized.

Essentielles Body Cream-Milk, 200ml ($14.90)
The cream-milk contains Shea Butter and just like the gel, is hypoallergenic and paraben-free. This is my favourite product out of the entire range. The top part of my back was dry from the acne medication that I was using, and I have been drowning it with all sorts of moisturizers. But they didn't quite work. The cream-milk, however, cured it! The skin on my back feels really soft now.

I slather this on at night and in the morning, my skin's still feeling all moisturized and happy. I'll repurchase this once I'm done with it. Oh! The smell isn't as lovely as the gel but there's is still a hint of the rose scent. (:

Essentielles Foaming Cleanser, 100ml ($11.90)
The cleanser contains Glycerin and can double up as a makeup remover as well. And you guessed it! It's hypoallergenic and paraben-free as well. (:

For me, this didn't manage to remove all my makeup. Hmm... I really do think that to remove makeup, you need a makeup remover. Cleansers just don't cut it. This cleanser lathers well, and like the others, a little goes a long way. However, I may have been so used to Cetaphil that this comes across as a little too drying for me. :\

Essentielles Facial Emulsion, 50ml ($16.90)
The emulsion contains Shea Butter and Allantoin. The latter comes from the roots of comfrey and it helps to repair, soften, moisturize and calm damaged skin.

This moisturizer does a splendid job in moisturizing my skin but I do find it a tad heavy for usage in the day. My skin's of the oily type and this range is specifically made for those who haven't got any skin problems so there is a little mismatch. I was informed of this during my skin analysis with Vichy. (:

So tell me... What is one product out of this range that I HAVE to try?
The Body Cream-Milk. It got rid of the dry patch on my back that other moisturizers couldn't! (:

EVENT: Fashion At The Races - VIP Party at Singapore Turf Club

Last Friday, my sister, Cher, and I got a chance to attend a party held at the Singapore Turf Club. Quite frankly, and as bimbo-tic, as this sounds, horse racing existed only in Gossip Girl for me. Singapore? BIG QUESTION MARK.

Horse racing in Singapore goes way back to 1842 (Eeps! Ignorant me!) and the race course was opened in 2000. We stepped onto grounds adorned with massive plants, which depicted the theme 'Racing in the Tropics', and the interior was dotted with beautiful horse statues and paintings.

Buffet awaited us @Hibiscus at Level 3 and we were seated at a table with a mini television, which provided quite a source of entertainment. There were horses named Doraemon and Can Make It... Yeahhh... Haha.

After dinner, Shawn (I think.) led us to the parade where horses, well, paraded. This is where bettors or punters evaluate 'their horses', looking out for shiny hooves and placid, but not sluggish mind you, 'personalities'. *pauses* The horses were actually quite scary, especially those which were huffing and puffing. Being the world-class worrier that I am, I half-expected them to suddenly run amok and was silently mumbling a prayer. Heh.

But oh boy! When the white horses came, it was truly a hold-your-breath moment. I don't know if it's because of all the fairytales that I have drowned myself in but they were so, so, SO beautiful *goes into a little daze*.

We went to the Lower Grandstand after much ogling at the horses (No, I wasn't looking at the jockeys.) and I felt really quite surreal then; Standing in front of a vast field, with the grandstands behind you filled with people... It was like an Olympic moment *nods seriously*.

Anyway, right at the front, there was a weighing machine where jockeys had to weigh themselves to make sure there no foul play was involved. We learnt that jockeys had to keep their weight at 50 and Cher started making noise about how unfair the world was. Haha. The Caucasians whom I have met so far are really tall, so to see Caucasians who were smaller than me... I felt like I was 175cm. My dream height.

We headed back to @Hibiscus after that, to do some actual betting. It was really fun for me, because that was the first time I did gambling of any sort (Felt like I was doing something really naughty! Haha.). We were each provided with a $5 voucher so Cher and I used those. We knew nuts about the horses and so, we sought help from the employees. On our first try, Andy (I think.) helped us place bets on horse 3 which lost. We were like "Awww.... Whatever!" but Andy came back with our vouchers and said with an embarrassed laughter "Umm... Return them to you!". LOL. We were like "COOL!!! REFUNDS!". Haha.

The 2nd time, it was an employee who was a NUS graduate who helped us (Horse 1, Waikato, was our horse.). He came to our table and we had the most entertaining conversation about his job, how 'ulu' NTU is, how all prospective students thought university was full of glamour (It isn't.) yada yada yada. Haha. We were all laughing so much. So anyway, the last race began... AND WAIKATO ACTUALLY WON!!! I was so stunned that I accidentally knocked over a glass of Sprite onto Cher (I'm sorry!).

We went to the loo to clean up and when we came back, the employees had helped us clean up and collected our winnings for us. They were really, really, extremely nice! And they were the ones who really made the day for me. (:

All in all, it was an incredibly wonderful Friday night for me. The companionship, the experience... It was awesome! Big shoutouts to Pearlin and Eunice for organizing the event! Thank you so much! (:

REVIEW: Babyliss' Pro Ceramic Dial-a-Heat Tongs (24 and 32 mm)

Hey Muffins!

I'm finally done with my midterms! HOLA!!! Anyway, as promised, here's a review of the Babyliss' Pro Ceramic Dial-a-Heat Tongs and a little information about the hair products I used for curling.

These curlers come with swivel cords and safety stands. Do be careful about the safety stands because they are made of metal. I wonder why they don't make them out of heat insulators... Anyway, I got myself a heat proof mat so I don't have to make use of the stands (When they are in use, they jut out. I was afraid that I would burn my face with it and there was no friggin' way that I was going to let that happen!).

There are 25 temperature settings. I used '13', holding my hair in the curler for about 20 seconds. It took me about 15 minutes to curl my entire head of hair.

And TADAHHH!!! This was me after an entire day of school and outing. My hair's pretty black so I don't think you can see the curls clearly in the picture. But anyway, the curls remained defined throughout the entire day! (:

Now, onto the hair products which I used. (:

First up, it's the Lucido-L's Designing Aqua Hair Curl Lotion . This is a heat protectant. It smells like the Kao's Liese Juicy Shower Moisturizing Hair Mist; sweet like berries! And it doesn't leave any sort of sticky or stiff feeling on my hair so *thumbs up and spastic smile*!

To ensure that my curls lasted all day, I sprayed Tony&Guy's Beach Curl Spray liberally. This product is strong but it does have a peculiar smell, which you need to get used to (After a while, I actually sort of like it.). Also, it does leave your hair feeling a little stiff. :\ But it did a splendid job in keeping my curls defined. (:

If you have been following me for some time, you would know that I hate the feeling of 'things' on me. Like my moisturizers can't be too thick yada yada yada. So I bought the Lucido-L's Designing Pump Hair Jelly . This didn't leave my hair feeling stiff but my curls didn't last. Towards the end of the day, they were looking all kinds of sad. But but if you're into those really loose kind of curls, then this would be good for you. I like my curls bouncy!

I hope this entry was helpful for you! Should you have any questions, do ask! (:

Anyway, if you detected a mellow tone in my writing, that's because I have my tresses lopped off. ): During the Recess week, whilst studying for my midterms, I got really bored and hopped off to a neighbourhood saloon. And the lady made an awful mess of my hair! My hair's naturally wavy. She snipped off the rebonded bits and put in so many layers that my hair was literally all over the place.

The minute my 2nd paper ended, I headed to my cousin's hairstylist and got my hair straightened and cut. Here's my hair now (It's a photo of Sya, my professor who's going back to Canada on Sunday and me. (: )

So... Yay or nay? :\
