ATM: My Exam Kit!

//EDIT Maybelline's Pure BB Mineral Mousse fails on dry skin. I'll be blogging about it next week!

I'm down to my last paper and as Magnitude from 'Community' will say 'Pop! Pop!'! Anyway, here's a really quick entry on my 'little' (Okay. So NOT little! Heh.) exam kit!

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
This little potion is something which I have just started using. Two nights ago, in fact. But gosh! When Sam and JH claimed that this product's awesome, they sure as hell meant it! I daresay it's the best serum I have used to date. Just two drops of magic and you wake up to skin that's plump, moisturized and visibly more even-toned skin. My skin was all kinds of bad, no thanks to the ongoing examinations. It was dull and I had some serious PIH going on on my face because I broke out about two weeks back. But just 6 drops of this and my skin's en route to a speedy recovery! It is very pricey though ($90)... But this is definitely taking permanent residence in my loo!

Vichy's Normaderm Active Anti-Imperfection Concentrate
I used this pretty liberally on my breakouts. Okay, I don't know about you but this is what I have noticed from my 10 years and counting of experience with acne medications; there are some medications that quicken the ripening of the zit (Which means you see the yucky pus.) and there are those that just eliminates the zit (Without the whole ripening process.). This belongs to the former camp. All my zits ripened real quick and me, being Miss Itchy Fingers, squeezed them and ended up with PIH. I'm not saying that this product is bad. It is effective because it ripens the zits and once they pop on their own, you're done with them. Just be a Charlene and touch them! This product contains 4% Salicylic Acid, so I reckon this will do a splendid job in annihilating blackheads!

Laneíge's Multi Cleanser
This cleanser contains little beads which I love! I will be reviewing this, as well as other products from the Water Bank Series, Laneíge's Essential Care Trial Set (Light) to be exact, this weekend. Keep a look out! :D

Eucerin DermoPURIFYER's Creme-Gel
This is the old version and I reviewed it here. I have been a fan of this since I was 17. I use this as an all-over face product, and not on localized breakouts.

Naruko's Raw Job's Tears Whitening Night Gelly
I got this in my recent haul. This feels incredibly luxurious on my skin but it's far too early for me to pass judgement on its whitening capabilities. But gosh... It smells sooo good (Something like Bird's Nest. But not exactly!) and did I say that it feels sooo luxurious?!? *grins*

Hazeline Snow's Moisturising Cream
Best moisturizer. Ever. I have raved about it only a couple hundreds of times. Earlier this month, my skin was red and looked 'stretched'. I think it was the result of late nights, stress and too-potent products (Too potent for skin that has been made sensitive.). There were dry patches too (I still have a dry patch beside my left eye. ): ). Piling on products seemed to make it worse, so I turned to my handy dandy Hazeline Snow! And it pretty much cured everything! :D

Lanéige's Pore Clear Wash Off Pack
I have been using this intermittently. It leaves the face feeling soft and clean!!! And nope, there's no too-tight feeling! :D But there hasn't been any visible reduction in my pores' appearance. ):

Lancôme's Trésor Midnight Rose
I am completely and irrevocably in love with this fragrance (Read about the bloggers' part here.). Feminine and sensual, this is MORE than perfect for young ladies! (:

Maybelline New York's Volum' Express The Falsies Washable Mascara
Okay, I won't exactly say that this gives you '300% more visible, fuller lashes, no gaps from any angle' but it is a pretty nifty mascara. It's comparable to my CoverGirl mascaras. It doesn't clump and does lengthen the lashes quite a bit. However, towards the end of the day, when my eye lids get oily, I find little smudges near my lashes. I didn't experience this with CoverGirl's.

Ginvera Green Tea's Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream SPF 30/ PA++
I first encountered this when The Sample Store sent me one for review. But I found the shade a tad too dark for me so I passed it to the sister and she raved about it (The sister is uninterested in beauty stuff. So if there's any product that she raved about, I HAVE to check it out or take a second look at it.). And then, M has been saying that I look 'too white' so I decided to buy a tube of this and yes! I have been loving it! Fab coverage, I don't look 'too white' *rolls eyes at M* and as mentioned in my review, it blends seamlessly, like a second skin! :DDD

On a side note, it's always good to revisit products!

Maybelline's Pure BB Mineral Mousse
When I first played with this, I was a little too impatient. This takes a tad longer than other B.B. creams to blend but once blended, like what Juliet said, it gives a lovely airbrushed look (Read her review here.). The only other time that I got such a porcelain complexion was with Rimmel London's 16H Lasting Finish Foundation (in Ivory), which has been discontinued. I'm loving this a lot!

NARS' Blush in Deep Throat.
NARS. Blush. Deep Throat. Need I say more?!? (I like this so much better than Orgasm!)

Alrighty. This has been quite a long post. I'm off to catch a couple of episodes of 'The Lying Game'. Nights all! :DDD

RAMBLINGS: School blahs.

Tomorrow's the final examination for Stochastic Processes (Gawd. I felt like I haven't written anything in a long time. Save for my 140-character tweets.). I have been dreading it since... Forever.

But no matter how much I dread it, the paper's still going to come. I know it's such a 'duh' statement but there's some sort of... Hmm, for the lack of a better word and using one that is completely incongruous, 'beauty' in it and I like to think about it... Even though, there's really nothing to be thought about.

Hmm... Maybe this is procrastination in disguise.

Anyway, I can't wait for this semester to be over. Math is hell. If you're thinking of studying Math, please don't. I implore you. Unless you're a masochist. It's the worst hell I have ever put myself through; it's worse than being dragged on the road, it's worse than putting this crazily painful Chinese Herbal Oil on raw wounds, it's worse than Economics, it's worse than Accounting, it's worse... Than quite possibly everything. I hate it.

Those people who can do Math (University level.), I salute you.

OVER AND OVER.

REVIEW: Mentholatum's Mogitate Kajitsu (Orange & Mango)

So I have just sat for a paper and the word 'depressing' is a complete understatement to describe my feelings now but... There's always my little blog to cheer me up! :DDD

The Sample Store sent me one of Mentholatum's Mogitate Kajitsu lip balms last week and boy, was it timely! Late nights have turned my face into a Sahara and even my lips weren't spared. ):

The name's made up of 2 Japanese words;'Mogitate (もぎたて)' means 'fresh' and 'Kajitsu (果実)' means 'fruits'. And these little handy dandy lip balms come in 5 different delicious flavours; Strawberry, Grape & Berry, Orange & Mango, White Peach and Lemon & Lime. I was sent the Orange & Mango one. :D

Mojitate Kajitsu is a yummilicious combination of

Fresh fruit juice: Contains essential minerals and vitamins.
Honey: Heals and renews the lips.
Squalane: Helps to reduce wrinkles caused by aging and sun damage.
Grape seed oil: Helps to repair skin.
Vitamin A and E: Antioxidants that retard lip aging and give lips a healthy shine.

I'm very particular about my lip balms (And just about everything else...). There are some lip balms which coats the lips with a thick layer, like a lipstick. It's very yucky for me. But Mogitate Kajitsu doesn't! It goes on smooth and leaves a very light, comfortable layer on the lips. :D There's a very slight sheen which makes the lips look healthy!

The lip balm's also a little minty, making it refreshing and of course, it smells incredibly yummy!!! Most importantly, this lip balm provides UV protection too! We often neglect our lips when it comes to protection against harmful sun rays. This little darling takes care of that! :DDD

Mentholatum's Mogitate Kajitsu lip balms are available exclusively at Watsons at a pocket-friendly price of $5.90.

P.S.: Redeem your lip balm sample here!

RAMBLINGS: Numbers and the boy.

I have 4 more papers to the end of my 2nd last semester in university! Though the studying has dwindled drastically and stress is making its mark on my left cheek, the happiness index is way up! Last night, the boy told me about my awesome timetable for the next semester; it's going to be a two-day school week for me! *self-combusts in happiness* Swear everything was dressed in pink after that. Including the Awfully Chocolate Banana cake that Mum had just bought and has only one slice left to its demise.
-

Everything happens for a reason. But as much as I hate Math (Okay, I love it. Sometimes.), I knew there had to be a reason why 19-year old me would wake up one morning and decide that studying Math was the world's most fabulous idea. I found my answer this semester, in the form of a China boy.

HAHAHA. He's going to flip when he reads that sentence. He isn't from China, though his speech, looks and brain seem to suggest otherwise. HAHAHA. He's like the complete opposite of me. And hmmm... Pretty close to what I want in my man. Haha. I extremely like the fact that he's particular. Particular guys are good. Anyway, from instant friends, to buds and then, to someone who's so much closer... It has been pretty amazing. (:

He has his own label now (In the blog.) and this December's going to be filled with outings with him so *thumbs up and spastic smile*. :DDD

This semester has been really unexpected. Good unexpected. (:
-

I wanted to blog about something else but I can't quite remember what it is now. Oh wells. Back to the books!

Oh!!! I have been blogshopping A LOT! Love, Bonito, Pearlavish, The Velvet Dolls... I placed an order with Michelle for F21, gonna be receiving some falsies too! Haha! It's gonna be an awesome December, with a capital A!!!

And oh yes! I need to catch up on 'The Lying Game', 'The Vampire Diaries' (This season has been really good!), 'The Office', 'Community', 'Modern Family'... OOOOOOOOOH!!! Of course, outings with the boy and friends... GAHHH!!! December 1st, come already!!!

RAMBLINGS: Adverseness.

I'm so adverse to relationships that anything trivial can cause me to pull the plug. No, it's more like 'rip out the plug'.

Serves me right if I end up alone with a house full of cacti (Just because I don't feel anything towards animals, so I won't be the sad old lady in a house full of cats. I'll be the sad old lady in a house full of cacti. Yay me.).

Jeezus. Exams need to come and go now. ):

SPOTTED: Unfurgivable!

Earlier this year, I went for my first Brazilian wax (Read about it here!)! And boy, was it an experience! Since then, I have liked my nether regions to be completely hmmm... Barren. Heh. So I have taken the permanent route. Here's something for you ladies who want go fur-free too!

Strip and PETA have formed an alliance in the battle against all fur! From now till December 31st, Brazilian waxes are going at $40 each (U.P. $58), of which $1 will be given to PETA. :DDD

HAUL: Luxasia 2011, Watsons and M.A.C!

Headed down to the annual Luxasia sale this morn with Dor (Read about last year's sale here!). And gawd. Even though we reached at 10.10am (The sale began at 10am), the queue had already snaked from the cargo lifts all the way to the roads. There were many more men than I remembered.

The sale wasn't that awesome this time round. I didn't get a single piece of makeup *points below*. Makeup brands available were Stila, Guerlain, RMK and IPSA. The selections offered were pretty dismal. There were sets last year, but not this time round. The Guerlain table was packed to the brim. Women bared all their ugly sides. "Stop pushing!", "I'm not pushing!", yada yada. Grown-up ladies... Supposedly. Oh wells.

Other items that were available were Paris Hilton's bags and wallets and Guy Laroche's shirts and wallets.

I got fragrances for the family for Christmas! Issey Miyake's L'eau D'issey Summer 2011 is for the sister. Miyake is one of my favourite brands and this particular edition smells so full of sunshine. It's a little mismatch for the sister because she's like a 'tortured poet'. But I think she will like this. Hopefully! *crosses fingers*

I hadn't heard of John Galliano before the sale but gosh! The fragrances... Completely heavenly. The one that I got is that of a rose and this is for Mum. Very subtle, very womanly. The other one that was available was Parlez-Moi d'Amour and it has blueberry notes. Incredibly yummilicious! I was telling Dor how I would want to literally eat myself if I sprayed that on. Haha. It stood out of all the fragrances that Dor and I smelled. It's more for younger ladies though. Dor got one for herself (She had such a tough time picking a fragrance. I kept waving strips of paper in front of her face and going "Dor! This is SOOO nice!!! SNIFF SNIFF!!!".). :DDD

And gawd, I love Salvatore Ferragamo's Black! In fact, I love all of Ferragamo's fragrances for men! They smell so incredibly manly *swoons*!!! I got the big one for Dad and the small one for M, even though I was quite hesitant because I don't really want the two of them to smell alike. But Dor and I walked around and smelled till our noses were threatening to drop off and in the end, Ferragamo's fragrances were still the best. Dor got the same ones too, for her dad and Nigel. Haha. We were saying that we can't have daddy outings or double dates. Ever. (Last year, we got the same perfumes for our brothers. Ferragamo too. Though Dad's using it now though. And he loves it. YAY! I'm always so happy when Dad likes something that I bought. :DDD )

And the last one's Bvlgari's BLV II, for myself! When I first took a whiff of this, I was like "Ummm... This smells like it's for men...". Haha. It doesn't smell feminine at all but it smells very fresh, like the ocean. The more I sniffed it, the more I liked it! Heh. I'm still a little 'bothered' by the fact that it doesn't smell feminine though. I think ladies should smell like ladies... Though when I was 14, I used to spray on Dad's perfumes. Heh.

I didn't get any for the brother because he just uses Dad's ones. Got to rack my brain for his present.

Next up is my little haul from Watsons! The Hada Labo's travel set is $15.90 and I thought it would be a good 'summary' of their products. This is going into my 'instocks' drawer though, because I have got a couple of skincare products to try out first (JOY! JOY!!!).

And I finally jumped on the Naruko bandwagon. Hazel first brought my attention to the brand. But I didn't really check it out as my loo's choked with products. Anyway, the first thing that I noticed about Dor today was that she's so much fairer than the last time I saw her, which was 2 months back. She told me that she has been using Naruko's Raw Job's Tears whitening series. And she was like "I use this every night because it feels sooo good on the face.".

I got the night gelly. No more questions asked. Haha.

Last but not least, my very first M.A.C eyeshadow palette, 6 Devil May Dare Warm Eye Shadows from the Magic, Mirth & Mischief collection! Prankster, the golden-green shade, is incredibly gorgeous!!! This was bought from Michelle for $22. Thanks Michelle, for bringing it down for me today! (:

Alrighty. It's dinner time now and I think this is my last post till after my exams. Do take care and till then, xoxo!

HAUL: Nails, makeup and such.

From not a single bottle of Essie to 6 spankin' brand new ones! Hehe. These are the latest 4 which I'm welcoming to my (rapidly) growing nail polish collection. Say hello to Fishnet Stockings, My Place or Yours, Ballet Slippers and Turquoise & Caicos.

I wanted Fishnet Stockings for the longest time (And so desperately too!), ever since I found out that this is one of the reds that Dita Von Teese uses. But it was a little difficult tracking this down, without resorting to sprees. All, except Ballet Slippers, were bought from Smoochiezz for $10 a bottle. (:

Eliza very kindly got me Ballet Slippers when she was in Hong Kong! Thanks so much sweets! :DDD

Say hello to OPI's Romeo and Joliet (Not a spelling error.) and China Glaze's Let's Groove. These darlings were from Smoochiezz too, $10 and $8 respectively.

And just a heads up, Smoochiezz will be having a nail polish sale at Jurong Point over the weekends! Essie will be going for $7 and China Glaze's at $6! Too bad I will be mugging my brains out for the coming finals (3 more weeks to ho-li-days!!!)!

No thanks to the monstrosity that has been cleverly disguised as a friendly institution, I have been breaking out. ): I haven't broken out this bad since... I don't know man. This is the worst in my 2.5 years of university.

I am a huge fan of Eucerin and Vichy so I'm desperately hoping that the above will restore my skin to that of a baby's. Eucerin's Dermo PURIFYER Active Night Care and Active Concentrate are $25.90 and $29.90 respectively. Vichy's Normaderm Active Anti-Imperfection Concentrate is $29.00 and I got it because it contains 4% salicylic acid, which doesn't dry out my skin like benzoyl peroxide does.

Next is the much-talked about Maybelline's Pure BB Mineral Mousse. This is retailing at $23.90 at Watsons.

I gave this a test shot the other day. But hmmm... It didn't sit very well on my skin. But it must be noted that my face was red and patchy, having stayed up the previous night working on a school project.

I will definitely play with this more before I pass my verdict. Juliet was tweeting the other day that it gave an airbrushed complexion, albeit a little-not-too-awesome coverage.

My very first NARS's Duo Eyeshadow in Rajasthan! *jumps up and down* I got this second-hand from Salina for $16. I can't wait to play with it! :DDD

And last but not least, my very first M.A.C's quad (Though I'm getting another from Michelle soon! Tee hee!)! This is Spiced Chocolate and I got this from Salina as well, for $15.

I have been looking for this online ever since I saw it on Ain't That Pretty (Read her entry here!)! I have yet to play with it but gosh, the colours look absolutely amazing on Natasha!

Alrighty, I'm off to take my shower and work on my last project for the semester! Hols in 3 weeks' time.

I. Cannot. Wait. :DDD

REVIEW: Hada Labo's Hydrating Cleansing Oil

Drawn to Hada Labo's skincare philosophy of being 'Perfect X Simple', it was difficult not to be intrigued by its Hydrating Cleansing Oil, though I usually eschew oil-based products. Thank you The Sample Store for sending me a bottle to review! :DDD

Hada Labo's latest baby, the Hydrating Cleansing Oil contains high purity olive oil and of course, their signature Super Hyaluronic Acid. It contains no fragrances, colourings, alcohols and mineral oils. Perfect for people with sensitive skin like me! :D

This little potion is touted as a '1-step makeup remover', erasing all traces of makeup, including waterproof eyeliners and mascaras! And because it's water-soluble, it does it without leaving any greasy feeling!

Sounds good, aye? Let's put it to the test on different types of makeup!

On my arm, starting from the left, they are

Holika Holika's Petit BB (Moisture)
K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner Waterproof in Brown
Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Bourbon
Topshop's Blush in Head Over Heels
Shiseido's Perfect Rouge in RD 305
L'Oreal Paris' Glam Shine 6H in V5 Iredsistible.

A makeup for each part of the face!

The Hydrating Cleansing Oil is to be used on dry skin. So do make sure your hands are dry and don't wet your face! I take just one pump of the oil and it's more than sufficient for my entire face.

There's a very faint olive oil smell, which is neither pungent nor pleasant. Haha. It's just a smell that's... Well, just there. Haha. It doesn't stay on the skin anyway, so it's nothing to be bothered by. I massage it onto my face gently and then, rinse it off with water!

Et voilà! Not a single trace is left!!! The K-Palette's 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner Waterproof in Brown took a little longer to be removed, as compared with the rest, but I didn't have to rub at it harder or anything like that. It just took a little longer to go away, that's all.

Also, after washing the oil off, it didn't leave my face feeling taut! THUMBS UP! The oil cleansers which I had used previously left me feeling greasy but not this one! Not in the least bit! TWO THUMBS UP!

As like all oil cleansers, the Hydrating Cleansing Oil removes makeup a lot faster than water-based cleansers. But the factors which won me over were that it didn't leave any greasing feeling and it contains no fragrances, colourings, alcohols and mineral oils. Now that I am more knowledgeable about beauty products, I'm more conscious of the ingredients that go into them. (:

The Hada Labo Hydrating Cleansing Oil, $20.90, is available exclusively at Watsons. Do check out Hada Labo's Facebook page here for their latest news!

RAMBLINGS: How bleak the L word is.

After 10430249345 years, I finally went for a run. Okay, it has only been 2 months? But with all the junk food that I have been stuffing myself with (GAWD. Shaker fries are back!!! *hyperventilates*), I'm pretty sure I look preggie. :\ But anyway, I have found a running route in my new estate (After an ENTIRE year. Blame the little 'gym' that Dad had installed at home.) and it involves an overhead bridge. And trust me when I say going up and down is like committing suicide.

*dies*
-

While I was running, Taylor Swift's 'The Way I Loved You' came on and God knows I played this song to death on my daily runs after the big A's. Back then, I was having a massive crush on a fellow barista. So naturally, he came to mind when this song played.

(Though quite unfortunately, the song didn't ring true.)

He is sensible and so incredible
And all my single friends are jealous

When I saw him, my heart went into overrun. There was the whole 'I can't feel my heart. No, wait. I CAN feel my heart. Loud, clear and VERY fast.', the tongue-tied moments, the 'OH GAWD. WHY DID I DO THAT STUPID THING IN FRONT OF HIM?!?' head-burying business... The adrenaline rush when he smiled, the little smile that stretched across the face involuntarily when he looked at the door's glass and fixed his hair...

He says everything I need to hear and it's like
I couldn't ask for anything better

And I have always thought that love will feel so much more than that. That each of those aforementioned emotions will be intensified, ten times. No, a million times. That I will feel like I will literally die without him.

He opens up my door and I get into his car
And he says you look beautiful tonight
And I feel perfectly fine

Yet, what I am feeling at the moment is stability. And some sort of mellowness. The phrase 'falling in love with your best friend' comes to mind. I can picture myself living with you and being happy and all that. But the holding of hands, the pecks... I feel like I'm just doing what I'm supposed to do.

I still think that love means intensity... An insane rush of emotions. I want to fall in love each time I see mon chéri.

And I think that what I feel towards you is just friendship. Well, sometimes it is and sometimes it is a little more. But I have always thought that love equals certainty. I don't know if the first one completely killed it for me or maybe it has been so long that I have forgotten what it feels like... But December 23rd may have to wait a little while more.
-

On the same topic but in a completely different area,

She sat at the table with her sandwich,
And him across her with his eggs benedict.
munch munch
"How was work yesterday?"
"Oh, the usual. Yours?"
"The same."
munch munch
"There were 2 cockroaches in the girl's toilet last night."
"She must have been scared!"
"Yeah, she was."
munch munch
"The boy's laptop is spoilt. I will need to send it for repairs tomorrow."
"Where?"
"Apple."
"Oh."
munch munch
munch munch
munch munch
"I'm done."
"Me too."
silence
"Let's go then."
"Yeah... Let's."

Even old love dies. What more the new one.

LOOKBOOK: Love, Bonito's Dakota Blouse

Love, Bonito's Dakota Blouse was launched last month. I fell in love with the cream, navy and peach versions. But by the time I decided on my colour, there was only the peach and taupe left. So peach it was!

The colour's a lot darker than what is seen on the website and I was a little disappointed when I received the garment. It didn't look as feminine as I thought it would be. Nevertheless, because it's made of chiffon crepe, it still has a girly feel to it.

I haven't got any grouses where the material's concerned. (:

This is perfect for lazy days, though it is rather pricey. :\

RAMBLINGS: The death sentence.

In NTU, each student is given a certain number of academic units (AUs) which can be chosen to be ungraded. This means that we take the module but all we have to do to clear it is to get a passing grade. And this is called SU option. Sounds awesome, aye?

But here's the catch. We have to SU the modules before we sit for the finals and get the grades (In NUS, you get to SU modules after you get the grades.). This often leads to me going into a complete frenzy, AFTER I have done my SUs.

It's like the 'calm before the storm' before the deadline for SUs is up. I will decide on the module to SU, SU it and then, not think about it. And when the deadline has well passed... I go 'Oh darn it. I think I shouldn't have SU-ed it. That module can actually give my GPA a nudge forward... Or maybe not. No, it can. OH DANG! Should I take MC for the paper?!? No, it's okay. Char, chill! SU is good.'. And when I decide not to SU anything, I will be like '@#@($#($!~! I should have SU-ed the bloody thing! No, it's okay. I'm going to study for it anyway. But noooooooooooo... I'm so going to fail! It's going to hurt my GPA!!!'. Say hello to a true blue Singaporean, steeped in kiasu-ness.

Unfortunately, in the situation that I suddenly decide that I can actually get an A for the module and save myself from a cruel death from my core modules (Math, please. Just die and give the world a break.), once the SU option is exercised, it's exercised for life. This means that even if I were to MC the paper or fail the paper and retake it again, it's SU-ed.

It's like a death sentence.

BIG SIGH. This is just me comforting myself for SU-ing my Japanese module. I actually think it can save the bleeding life out of me. You have no idea how insane my core modules are.
-

Whilst choking myself to death with Linear Regression a moment ago, I realized just how close the end of my Math journey is. And it's a little scary that after 1342324054354935 AUs of Math modules that are 'beyond the normal human's comprehension', I am not, in the least bit, Math-y at all. I have friends who have Math in their blood. They speak Math. They think Math. They even look like Math.

But I'm just like "OHHH! Makeup!" or "OHHH! Vampires!!!" and these are often followed by lots of squealing and fangirl moments.
-

I worry for my future.
